Overview: The Director of Operations leads a team of Plant Managers who are responsible for driving and executing performance improvements in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, and Productivity. The product line is within the building industry which includes a diverse set of core product and component manufacturing sites. Plant locations encompass both the United States and Canada. This position will have 4-6 direct reports and 700-800 total reports under their supervisory organization. Reports to the VP, Operations.
Responsibilities: <ul><li>Drives all company safety policies, practices and procedures to ensure 100% compliance</li><li>Ensure the effective operation and budget conformance of the designated door plants by leading the weekly and monthly Scorecard Review cadence.</li><li>Review financial statements, sales and capacity reports, and other performance data to ensure conformance to plan. Where gaps exist identify and implement the necessary adjustments as corrective actions.</li><li>Lead Operations Team activity in the AOP (Annual Operating Plan) Business Planning and Budgeting Process (Financial & Capital) for the designated Architectural Plants.</li><li>Partner with Sales, Product Management, Continuous Improvement, HR, and Finance in driving / supporting Business-Level Strategic Activity & Investments.</li><li>Drive adherence to company’s Lean Manufacturing processes in Organizational Design, Lean Management System, and usage of Lean Tools. The Lean Management System includes Leader Standard Work, Daily Accountability Process, Visual Controls, and Escalation / Communication processes.</li><li>Support new product innovation (NPI) project activities to ensure successful and timely implementation in the plants.</li><li>Work thru the Global Sourcing and SIOP Teams to develop and execute Operations Plans to ensure Customer Service and Supply Objectives are met.</li><li>Support and implement the organizations Talent Management process. Develop talent at the plants to maintain and grow technical capabilities thru Succession Planning.</li><li>Create, drive and sustain a culture that promotes Employee Engagement and participation that supports achieving company Objectives.</li><li>Establish regular review cadence for key initiatives, utilize PDCA (Plan, Do, Check, Act) principles.</li></ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>Self-driven, accountable, high integrity, open communicator, strong work ethic</li> <li>Intermediate computer skills in programs such as MS Word, MS Excel, and Outlook are required, fast, and accurate data entry skills</li> <li>General accounting knowledge needed</li> <li>Strong time management skills</li> <li>Must be able to handle various issues simultaneously and prioritize</li> <li>Strong organizational skills</li> <li>Strong communication skills both written and verbal</li> <li>Ability to motivate while holding people accountable</li> <li>Must be able to build strong teams and clearly articulate roles and responsibilities</li> <li>Have a passion for employee engagement and spend adequate time on the floor</li> <li>Functional knowledge of supply chain management concepts, quality management systems, lean &amp; six sigma concepts and applications</li> <li>Ability to work up and down in the organization and lead cross-functional teams</li> <li>Works with integrity, displaying a high degree of tact and diplomacy</li> </ul> <strong>Qualifications / Experiences</strong> <ul> <li>10+ years of operations management experience in a production environment</li> <li>Former plant manager experience required</li> <li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Business, Operations Management or Engineering ; master&rsquo;s degree is a plus</li> <li>Plant process, automation &amp; maintenance engineering experiences</li> <li>Lean or six sigma certification</li> <li>Microsoft AX experience a strong plus</li> </ul>
