Overview: <br />The Director of Premium Audit will plan, organize and direct the activities of the enterprise-wide premium auditing functions. This position will oversee the planning and managing of the premium audit services, processes, and procedures supporting the underwriting needs through a network of vendors and staff resources. This position is directly responsible for the development and execution of premium audit strategies for the entire enterprise ensuring workflow, time, quality, and efficiency goals are met. Perform peer review on the Premium Audit function related to fronting and multiline expansion. The Director is responsible for developing metrics and quality control guidelines to ensure the accuracy of the enterprise's written premium.<br /><br /><br /> <p><strong>WORKING CONDITIONS:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Work is performed in an office setting with no unusual hazards.&nbsp;</li> <li>Minimal travel required.</li> </ul>
Responsibilities: <br /> <ul> <li>Direct the premium auditing activities for the enterprise including: customer satisfaction, quality, achievement of department and organizational goals and targets, and promoting overall business growth.</li> <li>Evaluate information in financial records to determine correct premium exposure base.</li> <li>Ensure efficiencies of processes within the Company to increase the level and quality of service provided to internal and external customers.</li> <li>Develop and maintain collaborative working relationship with all employees, leaders, and external parties.</li> <li>Contribute to corporate profitability goals through the review and accurate auditing of the Enterprises book of business.</li> <li>Provide technical advice, council, and assistance in the development of new products and systems.</li> <li>Provide vision, leadership, planning, project coordination, and management for the development of a cost-effective department while concurrently facilitating efficient operations to meet current and future business needs within the organization.</li> <li>Represent Company in community and industry, programs, and conferences.</li> <li>Upon request, function as the department head in the absence of the vice president.</li> <li>Participate in the development of programs as a strategic partner that supports the Company plan.</li> <li>Participate in development of annual departmental budget, monitor budget, and identify budget discrepancies. Research cause and make recommendations.</li> <li>Responsible for balancing workload to optimize the effectiveness of the department.</li> </ul> <br /> <p><strong>Supervisory:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Directly supervises exempt staff.&nbsp;</li> <li>Carries out responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.&nbsp;</li> <li>Responsibilities include: interviewing, selecting, training, and developing employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints; and resolving problems.</li> </ul> <br /> <p><em>This position description identifies the responsibilities and tasks typically associated with the performance of the job. Requirements: <br /> <p><strong>EDUCATION OR EQUIVALENT EXPERIENCE:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field required.&nbsp;</li> <li>Continuous learning, as defined by the Company&rsquo;s learning philosophy, is required.&nbsp;</li> <li>Certification or progress toward certification is highly preferred and encouraged.</li> </ul> <br /> <p><strong>EXPERIENCE:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Ten years of relevant experience that provide the necessary skills, knowledge, and abilities.</li> <li>Prior management experience managing a premium audit department required.</li> <li>Multi-state experience strongly preferred.&nbsp;</li> </ul> <p><strong><br /><br />SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES (SKA) REQUIRED:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Demonstrated technical knowledge of the premium audit processes and procedures.</li> <li>Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.</li> <li>Ability to read, analyze, and interpret policy documents, technical and financial information, and procedure manuals.</li> <li>Must demonstrate leadership ability and team-building skills to effectively supervise professional staff and interact with all levels of management.</li> <li>Ability to work with and empower others on a collaborative basis to ensure success of unit team.</li> <li>Ability to effectively exchange information, in verbal or written form, by sharing ideas, reporting facts and other information, responding to questions, and employing active listening techniques.</li> <li>Ability to effectively present budgetary and/or cost information, and respond to questions as appropriate.</li> <li>Ability to establish workflows, manage multiple projects, and meet necessary deadlines.</li> </ul>
