While managing a workload, this position will work within the enterprise&rsquo;s various departments specific to their area of expertise. Assumes an oversight role for large accounts in both service and prospecting roles. Develops client use materials, business association programs, loss trending specific to their area expertise, field staff technical questions, and identifies areas of opportunity to facilitate a profitable business. Develops training presentations and programs directed towards controlling losses or improving claims management within their area of expertise.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br /><br /><br /></p> <p><strong>WORKING CONDITIONS:</strong></p> <p>Work is performed primarily in the field. However, may be required to visit customer locations that may present some unusual hazards. Frequent travel is required with overnight stays. Ability to lift and carry computer equipment weighing up to 35 lbs. Must possess a valid driver's license with a record that meets corporate standards. Work is required at various times of the day and sometimes weekend work may be required. Must be able to meet general physical requirements that would allow the LC Rep the ability to view and participate in account operations which may include climbing ladders and scaffolding, work in confined spaces, and or other similar situations.</p>
Responsibilities: <br /> <ul> <li>Oversees large accounts (in their area of expertise) providing assistance in service direction and field support. Develops service plans that focus on loss drivers, value-added services.</li> <li>Makes on-site service and prospect meetings to identify and evaluate exposures and hazards related to workers' compensation.</li> <li>Analyzes and evaluates extensive exposures, hazards, loss information, business operations, and organization. Prepares loss control reports and presents recommendations to correct physical exposures and hazards, control losses, and/or develop or strengthen management/ administrative controls. Assists with recommendation and program implementation. Conducts observations and evaluates the effectiveness of controls for existing accounts. Provides solutions to reduce client loss exposure.</li> <li>Maintains strong relationships with independent agents to discuss new and existing clients, specific account loss control reports, analysis, and loss reduction recommendations. Responds to any agent concerns, questions, or issues.</li> <li>Keeps abreast of changes in workers' compensation statutes and case law, in federal, state, and/or industry occupational standards and codes, and in loss control efforts and advance&shy;ments.</li> <li>Provides training assistance and technical guidance to other Loss control staff based on their depth of knowledge and expertise. Is responsible for working closely with management in the development of peers within the department.</li> <li>May work with business development, corporate, and/or field underwriting/loss control to act as a resource in developing insurance programs and minimum safety requirements.</li> <li>Develops training materials that can be used for general or specific needs including but not limited to environmental health, machine guarding, construction, etc. Training material may also include the needs of safety groups or other business revenue streams of the enterprise</li> <li>Researches and provide technical expertise in the development of client use materials.</li> <li>Conducts loss analysis for specific project needs and develops action plans to reduce the frequency or severity of losses for the enterprise.</li> <li>Develops detailed internal and external reports utilizing charts, graphs, digital photos, and other insurance-related software to support service direction provided to clients and to provide quality information at a level higher than normally expected in the industry.</li> <li>Sells and conveys principles to accounts and agents.</li> <li>Acts as a liaison to support enterprise initiatives.</li> <li>Acts as a Subject Matter Expert.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <br /> <p><strong>EDUCATION OR EQUIVALENT EXPERIENCE:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Associates in related field and certification (such as ARM, ASP, CSP) required; or a Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in occupational/industrial safety or related field required.&nbsp;</li> <li>Continuous learning required, as defined by the Company&rsquo;s learning philosophy.</li> <li>Certification, or progress toward, highly preferred and encouraged.</li> </ul> <br /> <p><strong>EXPERIENCE:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Minimum of ten years of progressive responsibility in a loss control environment with demonstrated technical knowledge that provides the necessary skills and abilities in multiple loss control disciplines or deep specialized loss control experience relevant to the book of business.</li> <li>Has experience working with large complicated accounts or specific associations or groups.</li> <li>Workers' compensation insurance experience required.&nbsp;</li> </ul> <br /> <p><strong>SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES (SKA) REQUIRED:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Expert knowledge of, and the ability to apply, relevant local, state, and federal rules and regulations, including multiple state-specific occupational safety and health acts and multiple state-specific workers&rsquo; disability compensation acts.</li> <li>Demonstrates leadership ability.</li> <li>Ability to train, develop and mentor loss control staff in safety and accident prevention policies, procedures, presentation techniques, technical training, and sampling equipment.</li> <li>Ability to balance the needs and expectations of clients with losses and clients that require routine service.</li> <li>Ability to analyze and solve practical problems which deal with a variety of variables.</li> <li>Knowledge in multiple disciplines of loss control or deep specialized loss control knowledge relevant to the book of business.</li> <li>Underwriting knowledge as it relates to selection of profitable accounts.</li> <li>Ability to exercise good judgment in evaluating and determining the appropriateness of various actions within the process of workers compensation loss control environment.</li> <li>Ability to read, analyze and interpret policy documents, technical, legal, and financial information, and procedure manuals.</li> <li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to persuade others.</li> <li>Excellent analytical skills to identify improvement needs and develop solutions.</li> <li>Ability to interact with all levels of internal staff and management, and effectively exchange information clearly and concisely, present ideas, report facts, and respond to questions as appropriate.</li> <li>Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to negotiate while creating and maintaining mutually beneficial relationships with working partners internally and externally.&nbsp;</li> <li>Ability to sell, direct and manage the services of multiple locations and multiple servicing personnel.</li> <li>Ability to manage multiple projects and meet necessary deadlines with minimal direction.</li> <li>Ability and proficiency in the use of computers and company standard software specific to position.</li> <li>Ability to make competent, independent decisions.</li> <li>Ability to lead events with large impact.</li> <li>Ability to maintain confidentiality.</li> <li>Ability to perform other assignments at locations outside the office.</li> </ul>
