Overview: <br />The Manager of Enterprise Facilities- Environmental Health &amp; Safety assists in the planning, organizing, directing, controlling, and leading multiple facilities management units and serves as the subject matter expert on environmental health and safety issues. This position is expected to represent Emergent Holdings to ensure compliance with all Environmental Health and Safety (EH&amp;S) regulations, while proactively reviewing industry standards and regulatory agencies for rule changes, developing applicable integration and training plans for Facilities and Support Services.<br /><br /> <p><strong>WORKING CONDITIONS:</strong></p> <p>The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Responsibilities: <br /> <p><strong>Environmental Health and Safety:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Influence, lead, and coordinate the Environmental Health and Safety Program across EH.</li> <li>Serve as MIOSHA required Onsite Worksite Supervisor to implement, monitor, and report on control strategies.</li> <li>Develop and train others to serve in this role as needed</li> <li>Oversee and review collected EHS data and schedule project activity to address concerns.</li> <li>Develop, implement, and administer local, state, and federal health and safety programs and engage with peers, managers, and subordinates to ensure compliance with all regulations.</li> <li>Provide oversight, control, and documentation for all online training management for various programs.</li> <li>Act as lead on accident or regulatory agency complaint investigations (i.e. MiOSHA) and leads all follow-up processes including the identification of root causes, remediation plan development, and coordination with the Office of the General Counsel and Human Resources.&nbsp;</li> <li>Assist in the development and coordination of emergency response procedures, training, and practice drills</li> <li>Ensure adherence to MIOSHA, OSHA, and other state and federal guidelines related to safety</li> <li>Work collaboratively with HR, Union, Corporate Security, Legal, and Business Units to establish safety policies and protocols</li> <li>Conduct worksite analysis to identify and resolve potential safety hazards</li> <li>Create hazard prevention and Control strategies</li> <li>Conduct and ensure adequate training and communication around workplace safety and pandemic control strategies</li> </ul> <br /> <p><strong>Facilities:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Assist in coordinating activities of multiple functional areas, including but not limited to facility planning,&nbsp;facility operations, environmental/health and safety, performance improvement and analysis, budget development, problem-solving, and communications.</li> <li>Administer tasks of the functional area assigned.&nbsp;</li> <li>Execute initiatives that support continuous improvement efforts.&nbsp;</li> <li>Provide effective/efficient solutions to complex business problems.</li> <li>Provide oversight and leadership to team and lead change.</li> <li>Manage multiple projects following proven project management methodologies, I.E. space planning, remodels, and departmental re-alignments.&nbsp;</li> <li>Provide vision, leadership, planning, project coordination, and management for department to meet current and future business needs within the organization.</li> <li>Represent company in community and industry, programs, and conferences.</li> <li>Serves as a liaison and creates alignment with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Facilities, Enterprise Security, and EHS teams.</li> <li>Works with the Facilities Director with regards to facility management and environmental health and safety initiatives.</li> <li>Responsible for balancing workload to optimize the effectiveness of the department.</li> </ul> <br /> <p><strong>DIRECTION EXERCISED:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Directly manages exempt and non-exempt staff (including remote employees at other locations) in accordance with company policies and applicable Federal and State Laws.&nbsp;</li> <li>Responsibilities include but are not limited to effectively interviewing, hiring, terminating, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and counseling employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; and supporting and encouraging the engagement process.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <br /> <p><strong>EDUCATION OR EQUIVALENT EXPERIENCE:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Health and Safety or related field required.&nbsp;</li> <li>Combinations of relevant education, certifications, and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.</li> <li>Continuous learning, as defined by the Company&rsquo;s learning philosophy, is required.&nbsp;</li> </ul> <p><strong>Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Requires valid Michigan driver&rsquo;s license.</li> <li>Certification in a safety-related area required; Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred&nbsp;</li> </ul> <br /> <p><strong>EXPERIENCE:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Minimum of four (4) years of related experience is required.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li> <li>Experience with a complex organization, preferably multi-location, coordinating EH&amp; S initiatives.</li> <li>Familiar with industry standards and benchmarking practices (BOMA, IFMA, OSHA).</li> <li>Must have working knowledge of industry standards/regulations and best practices related to facilities and EH &amp;S.&nbsp;</li> <li>Experience within a unionized workforce is preferred.&nbsp;</li> <li>Must have a proven track record of Safety Program Management and accident reduction.</li> </ul> <br /> <p><strong>SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES (SKA) REQUIRED:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Leadership ability and team-building skills to effectively supervise professional and non-professional staff and interact with all levels of management.</li> <li>Ability to work with and empower others on a collaborative basis to ensure success of a team.</li> <li>Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the public.</li> <li>Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form</li> <li>Good organizational, planning, analytical, verbal, and written communication skills required</li> <li>Ability to work effectively with limited direction in a team environment</li> <li>Capable of generating and manipulating reports using computer skills</li> <li>Project Management experience preferred</li> <li>Proficient in regulatory codes and standards relating to facilities, with ability to manage projects and keep abreast of industry trends.</li> </ul>
