Overview: <br />The PR and Social Media Advisor is responsible for executing PR and social media strategies to enhance the strong reputation of AF Group and its brands. Role is also responsible for developing and maintaining exceptional relationships with key individuals, media organizations, and business organizations to reflect the continued leadership of AF Group in our industry and communities.<br /><br /><br /> <p><strong>WORKING CONDITIONS:</strong></p> <p>Work is performed in an office setting with no unusual hazards. Minimal travel required.</p>
Responsibilities: <br /> <ul> <li>Plan and execute communications activities to reach media, influencers, and other customer-facing audiences.</li> <li>Assist with all aspects of raising the organization&rsquo;s external profile, from planning PR strategy and cultivating media to media monitoring in alignment with the Company's strategic objectives.</li> <li>Coordinate media relations initiatives and activities, media training (as needed), speaking engagements, news releases, press conferences, and other public relations-related activities.</li> <li>Monitor and manage public content related to the business (Wikipedia, Google reviews, etc.)</li> <li>Consistently maintain content on all AF Group social media channels to reflect brand focus</li> <li>Monitor, track, and&nbsp;report on key media/social metrics using native platform analytics and third-party platforms as defined.</li> <li>Cultivate relationships with journalists/key digital influencers to identify and secure strong media opportunities and to manage negative coverage.</li> <li>Establish effective partnerships with the organization and various media outlets in traditional media (newspapers, radio, tv) and in the digital space (blogs, vlogs, key influencers, etc.).</li> <li>Coordinate media messaging with Enterprise social media channels.</li> <li>Develop and lead proactive media/public relations strategy to increase visibility for the Enterprise.</li> <li>Identify by-lined article opportunities and interview source opportunities for subject matter experts across the Enterprise.</li> <li>Respond to media requests for information and facilitate media interviews with appropriate Company representatives.</li> <li>Build and foster collaborative relationships with subject matter experts to remain informed and aligned with new initiatives, products, and services that demonstrate Company expertise, innovation, and thought leadership.</li> <li>Identify opportunities to support collective and individual brand initiatives and develop media-driven solutions to promote and publicize these activities.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <br /> <p><strong>EDUCATION OR EQUIVALENT EXPERIENCE:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Communications, Media Relations, Journalism, or related field required.</li> <li>Continuous learning, as defined by the Company&rsquo;s learning philosophy, is required.&nbsp;</li> <li>Certification or progress toward certification is highly preferred and encouraged.</li> </ul> <br /> <p><strong>EXPERIENCE:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Five to seven years of experience in a PR/media relations-specific position, preferably within insurance, financial services, banking, or technology industries</li> </ul> <br /> <p><strong>SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES (SKA) REQUIRED:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Ability to create, implement and manage media relations programs.</li> <li>Exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal skills.</li> <li>Strong familiarity with and demonstrated use of social platforms, analytics, and content distribution tools.</li> <li>Ability to tailor communications to a variety of audiences and media outlets.</li> <li>Ability to work independently and as a team member.</li> <li>Innovative thinker with an attention to detail.</li> <li>People-oriented personality with demonstrated expertise in developing working relationships with all forms of media.</li> <li>Strong organizational, technical, and creative abilities.</li> <li>Demonstrated initiative and organizational skills.</li> <li>Ability to think and act independently with good judgment.</li> <li>Experience with media, press contacts, and financial industry publications.</li> <li>Ability to deliver persuasive presentations and written materials tailored to specific audiences.</li> <li>Ability to understand the fundamentals of insurance, think strategically and translate business objectives into integrated communication strategies and tactics.</li> <li>Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with superb attention to detail and accuracy.</li> <li>Ability to make recommendations on the strategic direction of the Company's media relations.</li> <li>Excellent project and time management skills and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.</li> <li>Proficiency in the use of computers and company standard software specific to position.</li> <li>Thorough knowledge of AP style.</li> <li>Ability to maintain confidentiality.</li> <li>Ability to perform other assignments at locations outside the office.</li> </ul>
