Overview: <br />The IT Business Management Advisor is responsible for overseeing the various financial functions within the Technology organization (e.g. budgeting, forecasting, accounting, and monthly charging). Specific responsibilities include advising, tracking, and reporting of current financials as well as running financial impact scenarios and managing discretionary and nondiscretionary spend. In addition, this role will also include responsibilities of financial vendor management and sourcing. The incumbent will also work closely with PMO team to support benefit realization and total cost of ownership analysis.<br /><br /> <p><strong>WORKING CONDITIONS:</strong></p> <p>Work is performed in an office setting with no unusual hazards.&nbsp;</p>
Responsibilities: <br /> <ul> <li>Manage the day-to-day activities of IT&rsquo;s financial processes.</li> <li>Own the annual financial plan and monthly forecasting process for IT.</li> <li>Lead the development of annual departmental budget, monitor budget, and identify budget discrepancies. Research cause and make recommendations.</li> <li>Tracking and reporting on actual spend against forecast spend by cost center.</li> <li>Work with IT Leadership Team on development of IT annual plan in accordance with company planning schedule.</li> <li>Design and develop a fiscal lifecycle from budgeting, sourcing, procurement to AP when the goods and services are received to accruals and forecasting.</li> <li>Develop tools and dashboards necessary to administer the fiscal lifecycle effectively.</li> <li>Create and oversee the IT metrics and status reporting mechanisms (IT Dashboard, Monthly and Quarterly reporting) related to IT financials.</li> <li>Work with the broader finance organization to prepare, coordinate, and communicate monthly financial calendar; ensure monthly close deliverables for technology cost centers such as month-end expense accruals and executive reporting.</li> <li>Work with internal IT teams, Business Liaison office, and Project Management office to create ROI and perform cost/benefit analysis on work requests.</li> <li>Support the project management process for new projects within IT by partnering with project managers across the organization on financial analysis and metrics.</li> <li>Review figures, documents, and journal entry postings for correct entry, mathematical accuracy, and proper account coding for the general ledgers.</li> <li>Reconcile or direct the reconciliation of accounts receivable and other balance sheet accounts.</li> <li>Liaison with other departments regarding cost analysis and chargeback.</li> <li>Review the accuracy of accounts payable checks and purchase order requisitions.</li> <li>Research, process, and collect unclaimed IT funds/property.</li> <li>Responsibility for balancing workload to optimize the effectiveness of the department.</li> <li>Work closely on financial aspects with the Portfolio Management and Resource and Sourcing Advisors.</li> <li>Work with IT cost center owners to help manage vendor contracts and finances.</li> <li>Establishes and manages the financial relationship with all the major suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and resource efficiencies.</li> <li>Provides input into supplier service and contract reviews.</li> <li>Directs the cost analysis of activities and identification of outsourcing opportunities to provide efficiencies in expenditure.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <br /> <p><strong>EDUCATION:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in computer science or related field.&nbsp;</li> <li>Combinations of relevant education, certifications, and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.&nbsp;</li> <li>Continuous learning, as defined by the Company&rsquo;s learning philosophy, is required.&nbsp;</li> <li>Certification or progress toward certification is highly preferred and encouraged.</li> </ul> <br /> <p><strong>EXPERIENCE:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Five years experience within an IT environment&nbsp;which provides the necessary skills, knowledge, and abilities.&nbsp;</li> <li>Three years relevant experience of significant IT financial management responsibility.&nbsp;</li> <li>Experience within the insurance industry highly preferred.</li> </ul> <br /> <p><strong>SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES (SKA) REQUIRED:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of financial accounting.</li> <li>Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in a broad range of information technology applications, frameworks, and infrastructures in support of researching and reporting on IT trends, allocation of IT-related costs, and financial planning.</li> <li>Strong analytical skills including understanding of generally accepted accounting principles.</li> <li>Deep understanding of finance management processes.</li> <li>Deep understanding of project management capabilities.</li> <li>Business Case, financial &amp; cost-modeling development.</li> <li>High-level understanding of IT and IT&rsquo;s capabilities, strategies, and priorities.</li> <li>Exceptional leadership skills.</li> <li>Strong communication skills including excellent written and verbal skills.</li> <li>Strong negotiation skills to influence key stakeholders.</li> <li>Customer management skills.</li> <li>Ability to work with and empower others on a collaborative basis to ensure success of unit team.</li> <li>Ability to effectively exchange information, in verbal or written form, by sharing ideas, reporting facts and other information, responding to questions, and employing active listening techniques.</li> <li>Ability to effectively present budgetary and/or cost information and respond to questions as appropriate.</li> <li>Ability to establish workflows, manage multiple projects, and meet necessary deadlines.</li> <li>Additionally, the incumbent must have the ability to identify priorities and achieve results with a sense of urgency</li> </ul>
