Overview: <br />Responsible for providing consultation and training to commercial trucking employers to assist in the continuous improvement of their safety results. Develop a business partnership and ambassador-type relationship with insured policyholders. Evaluate customers and potential customers based on their driver safety programs, controls and past performance. Evaluation and service consists of remote and onsite meetings with Trucking companies to gather information to assist in risk selection in the underwriting process and to provide continuous ongoing service to our customer base. This work will include interaction with management to develop loss control strategies that will have the greatest impact on reducing claims and achieving company success measures.<br /><br /><br /> <p><strong>WORKING CONDITIONS:</strong></p> <p>Work is mostly performed in an office setting with no unusual hazards. Travel is required.&nbsp;Must be able to drive an automobile and have valid operator license.&nbsp;Specific vision abilities required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to&nbsp;handle documents, books, manuals; reach with hands and arms; talk; and hear.</p>
Responsibilities: <br /> <ul> <li>Analyzing potential customers before visits based on their DOT and CSA measures.</li> <li>Analyzing loss data to look for trends that allow for a better understanding of the causes of loss, and supply insight and direction towards the improvement of customer base.</li> <li>Research and understand new technology related to the Transportation industry. Be able to relay this technical information to our customers and to our internal team.</li> <li>Train and/or make presentations to customers on driver safety related topics by participating in internal and external meetings. Make presentations to internal/external staff as needed.</li> <li>Gather and communicate pertinent safety information to assist in the risk selection part of the underwriting process.</li> <li>Assist customers with the development of trucking accident/loss prevention and/or safety programs. Monitor and measure the effectiveness of customer programs, corrective actions taken, and meetings held.</li> <li>Manage territory of assigned accounts/policyholders and ensure each one gets the appropriate level of service based on premium amount and fleet size.</li> <li>Coordinate policyholder visits with Business Development (Marketing and Underwriting), agent and/or Claims.</li> <li>Assist with the development of driver safety brochures, materials and exhibits for promotion and display.</li> <li>Represent company in community and industry groups, programs and conferences.</li> <li>Maintain strong relationships with independent agents to discuss new and existing clients, specific account loss control reports, analysis, and loss reduction recommendations and to respond to any agent concerns, questions, or issues.</li> <li>Demonstrate progressive responsibility and technical knowledge applying principles based on experience.</li> <li>Work on complex problems which have broader impact.</li> <li>Independently resolve situations.</li> <li>Contribute effectively in cross functional teams; may take on leadership role.</li> <li>Demonstrate proper collaboration in exchange of relevant elements with other disciplines (e.g., claims, underwriting).</li> <li>Develop recommendations to change existing policies/programs.</li> <li>Demonstrate well-developed conflict management/negotiation and presentation skills.</li> <li>Provide assistance with training, development and mentoring of commercial trucking loss control staff in trucking safety and vehicle accident prevention controls, procedures, presentation techniques, and sampling equipment.</li> </ul> <br /> <p>This position description identifies the responsibilities and tasks typically associated with the performance of the position. Requirements: <br /> <p><strong>EDUCATION:<br /><br /></strong></p> <ul> <li>Associate in related field and certification (such as ARM, ASP, CSP) required; or a&nbsp;Bachelor's degree in occupational/industrial safety or related field required.</li> <li>Continuous learning required, as defined by the Company's learning philosophy.</li> <li>Certification, or progress toward, highly preferred and encouraged.</li> </ul> <br /> <p><strong>EXPERIENCE:<br /><br /></strong></p> <ul> <li>Minimum seven years relevant experience that provides the necessary skills, knowledge and abilities.</li> <li>Previous commercial trucking insurance experience required.</li> </ul> <br /> <p><strong>SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES (SKA) REQUIRED:<br /><br /></strong></p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of commercial trucking key loss control standards, guidelines, techniques and disciplines such as driver hiring, driver training and driver retention.</li> <li>Considerable knowledge of, and the ability to apply, industry best practices related to, DOT compliance, CSA measures and FMCSA rules and regulations.</li> <li>Ability to proactively identify risk factors for trucking companies and communicate risk concerns effectively to appropriate parties.</li> <li>Ability to proactively analyze and evaluate risk factors by synthesizing data and communicating risk concerns effectively to appropriate parties.</li> <li>Ability to mitigate risk and influence necessary change.</li> <li>Ability to manage multiple projects and meet necessary deadlines.</li> <li>Excellent time management and organizational skills.</li> <li>Ability to minimize losses by spending time appropriately.</li> <li>Ability and proficiency in the use of computers and company standard software specific to position with the ability to navigate systems quickly and produce necessary reports for analysis.</li> <li>Ability to effectively exchange information clearly and concisely, present ideas, report facts and respond to questions, as appropriate</li> <li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills.</li> <li>Ability to provide customer service by responding appropriately to inquiries or concerns from agents, policyholders, regulatory agencies, management, and employees.</li> <li>Effective presentation skills in a variety of settings.</li> <li>Ability to establish and maintain an effective working and client relationship.</li> <li>Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, reports, and legal documents.</li> <li>Ability to work independently out of a home office location with minimum supervision.</li> </ul> <br /><br /> <p>​​​​The qualifications listed above are intended to represent the minimum education, experience, skills, knowledge and ability levels associated with performing the duties and responsibilities contained in this job description.&nbsp;</p> <p>We are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
