It is not standard practice for an offer to be at or near the top of the range, and therefore a reasonable estimate for this role is between $17 and $33.</em></p> <p><br /><br /><br /></p>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Perform exploratory data analysis.</li> <li>Build predictive models using generalized linear models (GLM) and decision tree-based methods.</li> <li>Train natural language processing models to extract information from notes and scanned documents.</li> <li>Evaluate model performance and create exhibits such as lift charts.</li> <li>Present work completed during biweekly sprint reviews.</li> <li>Attend sprint planning and daily standups.</li> <li>Learns about risk and pricing and is introduced to actuarial science.</li> <li>Gains an understanding of insurance and how the business works.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <p><strong>EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS:<br /><br /></strong></p> <ul> <li>Have status as either senior undergraduate or graduate student (MS/PhD) as of the end of the spring term.</li> <li>Hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better as of the most recent grading period.</li> <li>Be able to work full-time during normal business hours for this summer.</li> <li>Be available to begin employment between late May and mid-June.</li> </ul> <br /><strong><br />EDUCATION OR EQUIVALENT EXPERIENCE:</strong>&nbsp;<br /><br /> <ul> <li>Should hold or be pursuing a Bachelor&rsquo;s or graduate degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Operations Research, Engineering, Physics, Actuarial Science, or similar analytical STEM field<strong>.</strong></li> </ul> <br /><strong><br />EXPERIENCE:</strong>&nbsp;<br /><br /> <ul> <li>With proper education and projects (either personal or scholastic), no prior work experience necessary.</li> </ul> <br /> <p><strong>SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES (SKA) REQUIRED:<br /><br /></strong></p> <ul> <li>Be an experienced coder in Python with some SQL knowledge.</li> <li>Have some experience building regression and classification models and some familiarity with current techniques in natural language processing.</li> <li>Have some experience with Git and cloud resources like Azure or AWS, and good coding habits.</li> <li>Ability to present information and ideas, clearly and concisely.</li> <li>Excellent oral and written communication skills.</li> <li>Excellent working knowledge of computers and company standard software; Internet research experience strongly preferred.</li> <li>Ability to proofread documents for spelling, grammar and punctuation.</li> <li>Ability to perform necessary mathematical computations.</li> <li>Ability to comprehend consequences of various situations and make appropriate individuals aware of same for decision making.</li> <li>Ability to exchange information clearly and concisely and to present ideas, report facts and other information.</li> <li>Ability to establish workflows, manage multiple projects and meet necessary deadlines while maintaining composure during stressful situations occurring as a result of workloads and/or deadlines.</li> <li>Ability to maintain confidentiality.</li> </ul> <br /><br /> <p><em>The qualifications listed above are intended to represent the minimum education, experience, skills, knowledge and ability levels associated with performing the duties and responsibilities contained in this job description.&nbsp;</em></p> <p><em>We are an Equal Opportunity Employer.&nbsp;Diversity is valued and we will not tolerate discrimination or harassment in any form.
