Full Time

Overview: The Construction Estimator will support construction projects from proposal development through the construction process by preparing conceptual budgets, detailed budgets, bid breakdowns, construction schedules, change order requests, and other construction related documentation as required, with high attention to detail. In this role, an employee will be expected to develop and demonstrate proficiency in regards to the essential functions of the job found below.
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Provide additional project support by drafting documents and computations including, but not limited to: due diligence/site analysis reports, engineers opinion of probable costs, project schedules, local and state permit applications, request for bids, bid tabulations, contracts, and change order requests.</li> <li>Initiate contact with dry utility providers, providing necessary information to open work orders and have them begin working on upcoming projects.</li> <li>Obtain and review supplier shop drawings for conformance with project plans.</li> <li>Maintain positive relationships with customers during the construction process.</li> <li>Maintain unit price and project historical information for use in preparing conceptual and detailed budgets for prospective projects.</li> <li>Perform drawing takeoffs as necessary to prepare preliminary project budgets (prior to soliciting contractor quotes).</li> <li>Complete occasional site visits and field assignments as required. Perform site walks.</li> <li>Develop and maintain a list of general contractors, suppliers and subcontractors.</li> <li>Ensure suppliers and subcontractors offer good quality, timely performance, and competitive pricing.</li> <li>Communicate with the Construction Manager and Director of Construction on workload status in order to meet designated chargeability goals.</li> <li>Must read and interpret drawings, specifications, and contracts</li> <li>Communicate with others in both written and oral forms.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or Architecture and/or equivalent experience.</li> <li>Two (2) plus years of experience in supporting construction projects.</li> <li>Experience in heavy civil, concrete, or utilities desired.</li> <li>Experience with project scheduling (ex: MS Project), spreadsheet software (MS Excel), and in project cost estimating.</li> <li>Experience with construction of buildings, concrete structures, mechanical equipment, electrical work, and control systems.</li> </ul>
