Full Time

Overview: The Project Engineer position will support the project team by leading design aspects of the project, maintaining project budget and schedule, and providing technical expertise. This person will train and mentor project teams on all projects including those more complex and of larger scale. The Project Engineer will also address engineering issues for various land development projects. In this role, an employee will be expected to develop and demonstrate proficiency in regards to the essential functions of the job found below.
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Direct project team on various assignments as directed by the Project Manager, providing technical training and guidance.</li> <li>Recommend and implement design changes such as grading, size of utilities and other changes per client&rsquo;s request.</li> <li>Work with project team members and clients to prepare project proposal.</li> <li>Draft, review, and finalize preliminary and final site plans, documents, and computations, including, but not limited to: preparing reports, opinions, and recommendations for the approval of the Project Manager concerning the direction of the project; hydrology/hydraulic studies, due diligence/site analysis reports, engineer&rsquo;s opinion of probable costs, project schedules, utility computations, detention/retention computations, storm sewer reports, local and state permit applications, storm water reports, soils reports, earthwork volume calculations, StormCAD reports, WaterCAD reports, and preliminary grading.</li> <li>Complete edits and modify plans as reviewed by agencies, municipalities, and clients as directed.</li> <li>Research local/state requirements as directed on properties and projects for zoning. Complete site visits and field assignments as required.</li> <li>Review project survey data to analyze existing site conditions and factors to consider for development including, but not limited to: legal descriptions, ALTA surveys, easement documents, and condo documents.</li> <li>Provide construction-related services and direct junior team members to complete items such as: permit applications, cut sheets, quantity estimates, and transmittals; organize site plans, construction plans, construction sheet set-up and assembly and other related construction documents.</li> <li>Provide construction-related services such as: reviewing permit applications, quantity and cost estimates and transmittals, resolve construction issues, and serve as field engineer during construction.</li> <li>Support Atwell training and development programs by providing specialized training and/or mentoring in area of expertise, prepare and/or review technical training materials, and serve as technical discipline/subject matter expert.</li> <li>Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D and related engineering software packages to complete assignments on time and within prescribed standards as outlined in the Atwell Product Quality Manual.</li> <li>Initiate communication with clients, municipalities, and agencies as the project requires in accordance with the Project Manager.</li> <li>Communicate with Project Manager and Team Leader on workload status.</li> <li>Must apply fundamental engineering concepts to practical situations.</li> <li>Workload management skills.</li> <li>Additional certifications or licenses held are a plus</li> <li>Strong written and verbal communication skills.</li> <li>Provide support and participate in litigation matters by providing expert witness testimony as directed.</li> <li>Respond to review letters and modify plans from agencies, municipalities, and clients as directed.</li> </ul>
