Together We Ignite Possibility!</p> <p class="ignore-global-css">We are looking for a Direct Support Specialist to join our team!</p> <p class="ignore-global-css">The Specialized Direct Support Professional (SDSP) in the Rapid Emergency Services Team (REST) &amp; Transportation Response to Individualized Program Services (TRIPS) programs acts as a key member of the I/DD Direct Service Support Team by providing direct crisis response support and/or transportation services to clients of Adjoin. The purpose of this role is to promote the dignity, safety, independence, choices, rights and responsibilities of Adjoin clients through the execution of the SDSP job responsibilities. The SDSP also exemplifies Adjoin&rsquo;s vision and meet standards of quality, safety, satisfaction and goals of the client to optimize quality of life and independence.</p>
Responsibilities: <ul class="ignore-global-css"> <li class="ignore-global-css">Advance client&rsquo;s decision-making, productivity and participation in a range of daily activities. Facilitate the client&rsquo;s inclusion in positive community experiences.</li> <li class="ignore-global-css">Promote independence in daily activities yet be mindful of client&rsquo;s intellectual and physical disabilities and assist with, meals, cooking, household maintenance, grooming and dressing,&nbsp;<em class="ignore-global-css">as assigned</em>.</li> <li class="ignore-global-css">Maintain current knowledge of client&rsquo;s needs.</li> <li class="ignore-global-css">Implement behavior management plans and individual training and support programs under the direction of the case responsible person.</li> <li class="ignore-global-css">Maintain positive communications and relationships with his/her supervisor, clients, landlords, employers, involved members of families, Regional Center, D.O.R. and other individuals in the community.</li> <li class="ignore-global-css">Participate in the evaluation of the client through completion of task analysis and other requested assessment devices.</li> <li class="ignore-global-css">Provide critical resources, crisis intervention, and support to individuals in crisis.</li> <li class="ignore-global-css">Assess individuals in crisis to determine their needs.</li> <li class="ignore-global-css">Follow all mandated reporting laws and obtaining help in emergency situations.</li> <li class="ignore-global-css">Communicate, both orally and in written form, with other members of a team to improve program efficiency or overall crisis intervention success</li> <li class="ignore-global-css">Document required activity records, reports, incidents, and client evaluations in a timely, complete, and accurate manner as required.</li> <li class="ignore-global-css">Provide positive advocacy when the individual&rsquo;s preferences, needs, or talents are neglected or overlooked.</li> <li class="ignore-global-css">Address challenging behaviors proactively and respectfully, using methods outlined in plans and training.</li> <li class="ignore-global-css">Oversee client activities and environment throughout shift to ensure the fulfillment of health and safety needs. Provides direct service as needed and required.</li> <li class="ignore-global-css">Maintain crisis prevention certification and apply principles as required.</li> <li class="ignore-global-css">Provide specialized transportation services to individuals through the TRIPS program.</li> <li class="ignore-global-css">Other duties as assigned.</li> </ul> <br /> <p class="ignore-global-css"><strong class="ignore-global-css">What you will be doing:</strong></p> <p class="ignore-global-css">Some of our clients are physically impaired and require assistance into and out of wheelchairs and other assistive devices. The SDSP must be able to perform such tasks on an urgent or emergency basis.</p> <p class="ignore-global-css">This position requires the employee to regularly stand, walk, sit, talk and hear. Capable of writing, using a computer keyboard, telephone and related office equipment. Ability to lift 25lbs required. This position will normally spend long periods of time in a sitting position (80% of the day). He/she may use a computer, which would involve repetitive finger, hand and wrist motion (75% of the day) and require being able to see the computer screen (90% of the day). Other physical exertion could involve walking, climbing stairs, lifting, stretching, bending, etc.</p> <p class="ignore-global-css">Appropriate and professional dress is expected.</p> <p class="ignore-global-css">The SDSP is responsible for the safety and well-being of clients they are providing services for. Must be able to react appropriately and quickly in the event of an emergency such as client elopement, a natural disaster, fire or other unforeseen circumstance. An appropriate reaction might be having to follow or, help the client evacuate in the event of a fire or emergency which may involve ascending or descending of stairs, walking a significant distance, or being able to summon emergency responders.</p> <p class="ignore-global-css">The employee will experience normal office conditions with a well-lighted work area and minor noise from standard office equipment. In the community the employee will be working in community environments, employment sites and office environments. Potential exposure to noisy environments at job sites. Exposure to blood borne pathogens could occur. (Hepatitis B vaccines are offered to all employees at no cost to the employee.)</p> <p class="ignore-global-css">The SDSP must be capable of making on-site visits to clients. Often these on-site visits are at a distance from the office and no regular means of public transportation exists. Overnight travel is rare but may be required for training and as part of a participant's program. The Crisis Response Assistant is expected to perform duties assigned during hours needed to meet client needs, which means that the schedule may include evenings, weekends, holidays or other non-typical work hours.</p> <p class="ignore-global-css">If the above describes you, please feel free to apply today! Requirements: <ul class="ignore-global-css"> <li class="ignore-global-css">18 years of age or older.</li> <li class="ignore-global-css">High School Diploma or Equivalent.</li> <li class="ignore-global-css">Aptitude for confidentiality, organizational skills and good interpersonal skills.</li> <li class="ignore-global-css">Experience working with individuals in crisis required.</li> <li class="ignore-global-css">Certification in an approved First-Aid and CPR class; or successful completion within 45 days of the date of hire.</li> <li class="ignore-global-css">Ability to become Pro-Act certified and maintain ongoing certification.</li> <li class="ignore-global-css">Insured, registered vehicle in safe working condition, and proof of current CA driver&rsquo;s license.</li> <li class="ignore-global-css">Adjoin&rsquo;s client case management platform requires employees to utilize a mobile smart device (i.e. cell phone/tablet) with reliable internet connectivity and data to complete certain essential job tasks. This position requires the employee to have a mobile smart device available to perform certain required essential functions, for which reasonable reimbursement is provided to the employee.</li> <li class="ignore-global-css">Ability to travel within and throughout the counties in which services are provided a minimum of 75% of the time.</li> <li class="ignore-global-css">A Specialized Direct Support Professional works as scheduled by the Regional Manager and/or his/her designee. His/her schedule may be either part or full time, depending on the needs of the clients and Adjoin. Overtime may be required as dictated by operational needs, however, no holiday or overtime may be worked without the prior approval of a supervisor.</li> <li class="ignore-global-css">Successful completion of pre-employment drug screen and background check.</li> <li class="ignore-global-css">Physical evaluations may be required dependent upon specific assigned duties or compliance requirements and may include a TB test and/or a lift and transfer test.</li> <li class="ignore-global-css">Acceptable DMV record.</li> </ul>
