Overview: We are looking for Part-Time DSPs with open availability to work in our Supported Living Program. Help make a difference in someone's life by building relationships with individuals while supporting their independence! At Adjoin, we provide 1-on-1 support to individuals in their homes and in the community.<br /><br />The Direct Support Professional must be capable of making on-site visits to clients, agencies and employers. Often these on-site visits are at a distance from the office and no regular means of public transportation exists. Overnight travel is rare, but may be required for training and as part of a client's program. Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Providing the client with appropriate and effective services such as support and training programs</li> <li>Serving each client in the least restrictive environment</li> <li>Increasing the independence of all clients served</li> <li>Assisting each person with improving his/her quality of life</li> <li>Participating in client evaluations through task analysis and other requested assessment devices</li> <li>Providing direct service as needed and required</li> <li>Providing total care services as needed (i.e. bathing, brushing teeth, brief changes, etc.)</li> <li>Performing all duties of a direct service provider as assigned.</li> </ul> <strong>OTHER REQUIREMENTS</strong>:<br /> <ul> <li>Adjoin does not furnish transportation or vehicles for its employees however, mileage is reimbursed. A reliable means of transportation, valid California license and insurance is required.</li> <li>He/she/they must successfully pass a screening for illicit drug use prior to employment.</li> <li>He/she/they must possess a record clear from past felonious criminal activity and submit to a Department of Justice criminal activity background check.</li> <li>Our client case management platform requires employees to utilize a mobile smart device (i.e. cell phone/tablet) with reliable internet connectivity and data to complete certain essential job tasks. This position requires the employee to have a mobile smart device available to perform certain required essential functions, for which reasonable reimbursement is provided to the employee.</li> </ul> <strong>Responsibilities:</strong><br /> <ul> <li>Provide direct care and support to individuals with autism, hospice care, or other special needs</li> <li>Assist with daily activities such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication administration</li> <li>Ensure the safety and well-being of residents by following established protocols and resident rights</li> <li>Monitor and record vital signs as necessary</li> <li>Assist with mobility and lifting tasks as needed</li> <li>Maintain a clean and organized living environment for residents</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>Must be 18 years of age or older with a minimum of a high school diploma or its equivalent.</li> <li>CPR certification (will provide training within 45 days &amp; it must be completed during that time frame)</li> <li>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Some of our clients are physically impaired and require assistance into and out of wheelchairs and other assistive devices. The Direct Service Professional must be able to perform such tasks on an urgent or emergency basis. Many of the jobs/activities in which our clients engage require physical exertion on the part of the Adjoin staff person (i.e., walking (75% of workday), climbing stairs (10% workday but on a frequent basis), lifting (10% of workday but on a frequent basis), stretching, bending, etc.). A Direct Service professional must have the ability to talk, hear, and see in order to assist the client in his/her/their quest for independence.</li> <li>Previous experience working with individuals with autism, hospice care, or similar backgrounds is preferred</li> <li>Knowledge of patient care techniques and practices</li> <li>Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks as required</li> <li>Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team</li> <li>Flexibility in working various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays - Valid driver's license and reliable transportation</li> </ul> Note: This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
