Overview: Job DetailsJob Location Corporate Office - San Diego, CASalary Range $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 Description Adjoin us!<br /> <br />Pay Range: $80,000-100,000<br /> <br />Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer, the Accounting Manager will oversee accounting operations and drive financial excellence in a fun, innovative, and fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in managing accounting functions, including general ledger (GL), accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and payroll. Experience with payroll or UKG payroll systems implementation is highly desirable. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong leadership skills and a passion for process improvement.
Responsibilities: <ul class="ignore-global-css"> <li class="ignore-global-css"><span class="ignore-global-css">Oversee daily accounting operations, including GL, AP, AR, and payroll.</span></li> <li class="ignore-global-css"><span class="ignore-global-css">Responsible for the month-end close process, including preparing and reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, and other month-end close tasks.</span></li> <li class="ignore-global-css"><span class="ignore-global-css">Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.</span></li> <li class="ignore-global-css"><span class="ignore-global-css">Maintain and monitor internal controls to ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.</span></li> <li class="ignore-global-css"><span class="ignore-global-css">Prepares monthly variance financial reports.</span></li> <li class="ignore-global-css"><span class="ignore-global-css">In addition to day-to-day general ledger responsibilities, this role supports accounts receivable by making bank deposits and has a significant role in processing accounts payable invoices.</span></li> <li class="ignore-global-css"><span class="ignore-global-css">Serves as a backup resource, if needed, to ensure uninterrupted processing of AR, AP, and payroll.</span></li> <li class="ignore-global-css"><span class="ignore-global-css">Perform all other job duties as assigned.</span></li> </ul> <br /> <p class="ignore-global-css"><span class="ignore-global-css"><strong class="ignore-global-css">Payroll Management</strong></span></p> <ul class="ignore-global-css"> <li class="ignore-global-css"><span class="ignore-global-css">Manage and oversee the organization&rsquo;s payroll function using its HRIS/payroll system, ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll.</span></li> <li class="ignore-global-css"><span class="ignore-global-css">Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.</span></li> <li class="ignore-global-css"><span class="ignore-global-css">Collaborates with the payroll accountant and HR department to resolve payroll discrepancies and answer employee payroll questions. </span></li> </ul> <p class="ignore-global-css"><span class="ignore-global-css"><strong class="ignore-global-css">System Implementation and Process Improvement</strong></span></p> <ul class="ignore-global-css"> <li class="ignore-global-css"><span class="ignore-global-css">Identify and drive process or system improvements to enhance efficiency of our financial operations.</span></li> </ul> <p class="ignore-global-css"><span class="ignore-global-css"><strong class="ignore-global-css">Audit and Compliance</strong></span></p> <ul class="ignore-global-css"> <li class="ignore-global-css"><span class="ignore-global-css">Support audit process and help prepare audit schedules.</span></li> <li class="ignore-global-css"><span class="ignore-global-css">Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.</span></li> <li class="ignore-global-css"><span class="ignore-global-css">Maintain accurate and organized financial records for audit and compliance purposes.</span></li> </ul> <p class="ignore-global-css"><span class="ignore-global-css"><strong class="ignore-global-css">Team Management</strong></span></p> <ul class="ignore-global-css"> <li class="ignore-global-css"><span class="ignore-global-css">Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance and support to ensure professional development.</span></li> <li class="ignore-global-css"><span class="ignore-global-css">Conduct performance evaluations and recommend training as needed.</span></li> <li class="ignore-global-css"><span class="ignore-global-css">Foster a collaborative and positive team environment.</span></li> </ul>
Requirements: <p class="ignore-global-css"><strong class="ignore-global-css"><span class="ignore-global-css">Minimum Qualifications</span></strong></p> <ul class="ignore-global-css"> <li class="ignore-global-css"><span class="ignore-global-css">Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.</span></li> <li class="ignore-global-css"><span class="ignore-global-css">At least 5 years of relevant experience in the Accounting function.</span></li> <li class="ignore-global-css"><span class="ignore-global-css">CPA and nonprofit experience preferred, but not required.</span></li> <li class="ignore-global-css"><span class="ignore-global-css">Protects the organization&rsquo;s value by keeping information confidential.</span></li> <li class="ignore-global-css"><span class="ignore-global-css">Ability to act with integrity and compassion when interacting with Adjoin&rsquo;s most important resource, our people.</span></li> <li class="ignore-global-css"><span class="ignore-global-css">Insured, registered vehicle in safe working condition, and proof of current CA driver&rsquo;s license.</span></li> </ul> <p class="ignore-global-css"><strong class="ignore-global-css">Position Requirements&nbsp;</strong></p> <ul class="ignore-global-css"> <li class="ignore-global-css"><span class="ignore-global-css">Must have strong knowledge of GAAP and a thorough understanding of the Accounting process.&nbsp; </span></li> <li class="ignore-global-css"><span class="ignore-global-css">Computer literacy is mandatory and spreadsheet experience is a plus.&nbsp; </span></li> <li class="ignore-global-css"><span class="ignore-global-css">This position requires a special aptitude for accuracy, organizational skills, and good interpersonal relations.</span></li> <li class="ignore-global-css"><span class="ignore-global-css">Successful completion of pre-employment drug screen and background check.</span></li> <li class="ignore-global-css"><span class="ignore-global-css">Acceptable DMV record.</span></li> </ul> <br /> <p class="ignore-global-css"><strong class="ignore-global-css">Work Requirements</strong></p> <p class="ignore-global-css"><span class="ignore-global-css">The Accounting Manager must have the ability to learn the policies, procedures, activities and programs of the Accounting Department quickly and accurately.&nbsp; He/she must be able to type at an acceptable rate of speed, maintain records and files including alpha, numeric and chronological records, and be able to understand and follow oral and written directions.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; </span></p> <p class="ignore-global-css"><span class="ignore-global-css">He/she must successfully complete all applicable Adjoin training programs as assigned. </span></p> <p class="ignore-global-css"><span class="ignore-global-css">The Accounting Manager will normally spend long periods of time in a sitting position (85% of day).&nbsp; He/she will use a computer, which will involve repetitive hand and wrist motion for most of the workday (85% of day).&nbsp; He/she must be able to see the computer screen and will be expected to spend extended periods of time viewing a computer monitor (85% of day).&nbsp; Since the position calls for interacting with other offices, the Accounting Manager must have the ability to talk and hear.&nbsp; He/she must be able to lift 15 pounds.&nbsp; Other physical exertion could involve climbing stairs, stretching, bending, and etc.</span></p> <p class="ignore-global-css"><span class="ignore-global-css">The Accounting Manager may be required to make trips outside his/her office where no regular means of public transportation exists.&nbsp; A reliable means of transportation, valid California licensing and insurance is required.</span></p> <p class="ignore-global-css"><span class="ignore-global-css">Appropriate and professional dress is expected.&nbsp;</span></p>
