Whether a staff member works in one of our 120+ partnered schools, an office in Downtown Indy, a medical clinic, a homeless outreach team, or on the road as a community based life changer &ndash; they are all connected to the same mission.</p> <p>Adult and Child Health provides treatment in the community for adults who experience serious mental illness. We continue to use a multi-disciplinary team comprised of Psychiatry, Team Leaders, Therapists, Skills Development Specialists, Nurses, Peer Specialists, and Job Coaches to engage and support our consumers.</p>
Responsibilities: <p>The Peer Support Specialist will provide structured, scheduled activities to clients in the community that promote socialization, recovery, self-advocacy, and development of natural supports.</p> <p>Candidates must self-identify as an individual in recovery from mental health and/or substance use. Candidates must be maintaining healthy recovery and have the ability to tell their story of recovery to provide hope and encouragement to others. In addition, this position will provide skills training related to managing chronic diseases.</p>
Requirements: <ul><li>High school diploma or equivalent</li><li>Up to 12 months of specialized training</li><li>All applicants must be either a Certified Recovery Specialist (CRS) in the State of Indiana, or meet the eligibility requirements for the Certified Recovery Specialist Program for the State of Indiana. It will be required that a candidate hired without the certification must become certified with the first 3 months of employment to retain their position. Certification requires that a candidate “have lived experiences receiving mental health or substance use treatment and have been in recovery for at least one year”.
