Overview: The Business Management Manager will report to and be a strategic partner to the leader of Product technology. This role will support; product and technology operations, internal/external communications, high profile initiatives, as well as other strategic and day-to-day support initiatives. They will be responsible for analyzing the technology organization for opportunities for improvement and alignment in delivery and support. This includes areas driven by compliance and security, demand related to operational efficiency, cost optimization, other operational work. This role will plan, develop, and maintains the portfolio of strategic and tactical initiatives in support of running product technology operations. The Business Management Manager will support and integrate within the Product and technology leadership team to support cost-benefit analysis, the total cost of ownership, Return on Investment (where applicable) for each portfolio component; ensuring business value provided by the portfolio is documented and communicated appropriately.<br /><br />Directly supervises exempt staff in accordance with company policies and applicable Federal and State laws. Responsibilities include but are not limited to effectively interviewing, hiring, terminating, and training, teams; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and counseling employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; supporting and encouraging the engagement process.
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Responsible for liaison activities between the product technology organization and the business for ensuring all aspects of Product Technology services are communicated to the business effectively.</li> <li>Support the Product Technology leader in setting the strategic priorities of the technology leadership team.</li> <li>Participates in the development of the annual departmental budget, monitor budget and identify budget discrepancies.&nbsp; Research cause and make recommendations.</li> <li>Responsible for internal and external communication and status updates including leadership, staff, and department-wide.</li> <li>Responsible for communications plans of the technology group including direct reports, leadership, and all staff meetings.</li> <li>Supports balancing workload to optimize the effectiveness of the department.</li> <li>Responsible for cost-benefit analysis where needed ensuring value provided to the business is documented and signed.</li> <li>A key partner in presenting strategic alternatives and their relative benefits to the business and technology stakeholders.</li> <li>Oversees budget planning based on short- and long-term strategies.</li> <li>Oversees resource management by contributing to the Resource Management &amp; Resource Scheduling processes.</li> <li>Responsible for ensuring the portfolio components have resources allocated to them based on priority.</li> <li>Assists with mitigating technology resource conflicts in support of business priorities.</li> <li>Oversees actual spend against forecast spend by portfolio components.</li> <li>Proxies for the Product Technology Leader when needed across the organization including leadership meetings and initiatives.</li> <li>Conducts customer surveys and measures customer satisfaction.</li> <li>Works with the leadership team to oversee, develop, maintain and coordinate the Portfolio plan.&nbsp;</li> <li>Oversees tracking and benefits realization activities (with Finance).</li> <li>Provides the major inputs to review committees to support the decision-making process.</li> <li>Support product technology resource capacity management - planning, utilization, and management of resources.</li> <li>Work in collaboration with product technology leaders to improve the estimation of resources and capturing actual for projects.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <p><strong>EDUCATION:</strong></p> <p>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in computer science or related field.&nbsp; Combinations of relevant education, certifications, and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.&nbsp; Continuous learning, as defined by the Company&rsquo;s learning philosophy, is required.&nbsp; Certification or progress toward certification is highly preferred and encouraged.<br /><br /><br /></p> <p><strong>EXPERIENCE:</strong></p> <p>Minimum ten years relevant experience in a technology and delivery environment which provide the necessary skills, knowledge, and abilities. Experience with Portfolio and Program Management and Resource Planning Management required. Three years of management, supervisory, or lead experience in an insurance environment required.<br /><br /><br /></p> <p><strong>SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES (SKA) REQUIRED: </strong></p> <ul> <li>Broad understanding of all the business domains and brands.
