Overview: <br />The&nbsp;Database Operations Manager&nbsp;is responsible for the day-to-day operations and administration of Advantasure&rsquo;s database systems. The database operation manager leads a team of DBAs to maintain data integrity, database availability, performance, recoverability and reliability of our existing systems. The Database Operations Manager will provide technical leadership to developers and capacity and resource planning to senior management. Serves as internal consultant to system developers with regard to data access issues and techniques. Resolves database integrity and accuracy issues. Performs database/data analysis as required. Serves as a key member of the Product Hosting team; helps establish systems/technology strategy.<br /><br /> <p><strong>WORKING CONDITIONS:</strong></p> <p>Work is performed in an office setting with no unusual hazards.</p>
Responsibilities: <br /> <ul> <li>Manage day-to-day DBA/Data Change team operations.</li> <li>Act as a technical Manager for a team of DBAs being the primary point in driving standard processes, troubleshooting methodologies and setting the tone for excellence.</li> <li>Responsible for the development of administrative processes, database tool procurement, and ensuring compliance with defined processes.</li> <li>Assist operations teams with technical issues in all phases of a project's life cycle. This includes providing technical analysis/design services to the project through the delivery of recommended design.</li> <li>Train and provide guidance to other members of the team.</li> <li>Assures backup and recoverability of databases and data &ndash; primarily MS SQL databases, but also other production data sources.</li> <li>Recommends/establishes database product/release strategy.</li> <li>Investigates and/or tests database product features and functionality &ndash; sets usage plans.</li> <li>Evaluates/monitors availability of vendor fixes to database software.</li> <li>Collaborates with development teams to resolve database design and performance issues.</li> <li>Coordinate tasks/schedules of external consultants and internal staff</li> <li>Monitors/manages resources to assure system availability and capacity for growth.</li> <li>Data integrity/accuracy &ndash; establishes standards, procedures, audits, etc.</li> <li>Performs other duties as assigned by senior leadership.</li> </ul> <br /> <p><strong>DIRECTION EXERCISED:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Directly supervises exempt and non-exempt staff in accordance with company policies and applicable Federal and State Laws.</li> <li>Responsibilities include but are not limited to effectively interviewing, hiring, terminating, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and counseling employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; supporting and encouraging the engagement process.</li> </ul> <p><em><br /><br /></em>This position description identifies the responsibilities and tasks typically associated with the performance of the position. Requirements: <br /> <p><strong>EDUCATION:<br /><br /></strong></p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, engineering or related field.&nbsp;</li> <li>A Master&rsquo;s in computer science, MBA, or other advanced degree is desirable.</li> <li>Relevant combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.</li> <li>Continuous learning, as defined by the Company&rsquo;s learning philosophy, is required.&nbsp;</li> <li>Certification or progress toward certification is highly preferred and encouraged.</li> </ul> <br /> <p><strong>EXPERIENCE:<br /><br /></strong></p> <ul> <li>10 years of relevant experience in IT with at least 5+ years of experience in Database Administration and Operations, and at least 3 years of experience in managing people.</li> </ul> <br /> <p><strong>SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES (SKA) REQUIRED:<br /><br /></strong></p> <ul> <li>Experience managing cross-functional teams or projects, and influencing senior-level management and key stakeholders</li> <li>Broad knowledge of current and emerging technologies, technology directions, and strategic application to business needs, including the ability to differentiate between a relevant trend and hype</li> <li>Proven experience in improving operational efficiency, and technology delivery across an IT organization</li> <li>Ability to work with and empower others on a collaborative basis to ensure the success of individuals and teams</li> <li>Ability to effectively exchange information, in verbal or written form, by sharing ideas, reporting facts and other information, responding to questions, and employing active listening techniques</li> <li>Strong collaborative problem solver</li> <li>Ability to establish workflows, manage multiple projects, and meet necessary deadlines</li> </ul> <br /><br /> <p>The qualifications listed above are intended to represent the minimum education, experience, skills, knowledge and ability levels associated with performing the duties and responsibilities contained in this job description.</p> <p>We are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
