Responsibilities: <p><strong>Our new Technical Writer will:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Write and update documentation for all company products and platforms.</li> <li>Collaborate. You will partner with our Product Team to document the details and craft the overview of new and existing offerings.</li> <li>Follow documentation standards. You will consistently apply structured writing and plain language principles and methodologies. You will follow template standards, styles, formatting, branding and writing guidelines. You will differentiate between American and British grammar and style.</li> <li>Update and maintain knowledge databases and libraries. You will document and update team and department policies, procedures and processes in an online standard operating procedure knowledge base, Atlassian Confluence. You will manage and update online document libraries and archives.</li> <li>Balance workload. You will work autonomously to complete all deliverables and meet concurrent deadlines. You will manage and track your work on Atlassian JIRA.</li> <li>Follow the process. You will follow a clear project plan and documentation process, adhering to timelines, meeting review cycles and keeping your manager up-to-speed with your progress and/or any delay or concerns.</li> <li>Report. You will communicate project status to Team Lead, Release Manager, Project Management in meetings and via reports.</li> <li>Research and interview. You will attend cross-functional team meetings, conduct research and conduct individual and group interviews. You will gather subject matter expertise or end-user information and apply this content to relevant documents. You will transcribe individual and group interviews</li> <li>Innovate, learn and update. You will recommend modern solutions and alternatives to improve the documentation process and content. You will keep abreast of the latest information in technical writing, tools and delivery methods. You will update our process.</li> <li>Adapt. You will adapt your strategy,&nbsp;goals&nbsp;and approach in order to gather the information required, meet with resources and successfully design, develop and deliver content by the deadline.</li> <li>Produce, record and archive for future access WebEx meetings with one or multiple attendees and presenters.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <p><strong>We need a Technical Writer who has:</strong></p> <ul> <li>A relevant university degree and ideally Information Mapping Professional Certification.</li> <li>The experience. You have 3-5 years as a Technical Writer in a software development organization that follows an Agile process. Additional experience that would be an asset includes exposure to the Commercial Real Estate industry and corporate training or teaching adults.</li> <li>Expertise in multiple toolsets. You are an MS Outlook, Windows and Word expert. You are experienced using Adobe Acrobat, Atlassian Confluence and a diagramming tool such as MS Visio or Giffy Diagrams for JIRA. Other tools that would be an asset include basic knowledge of MS Team Foundation Server and a virtual conference and classroom tool such as WebEx. Bonus tools include the greater Adobe Suite, basic HTML and a Help Authoring Tool such as Adobe&nbsp;Robohelp&nbsp;or Madcap Flare.</li> <li>A portfolio demonstrating your experience documenting business and technical procedures, specifications, help files and job aids.</li> <li>Outstanding communication skills. Your oral, written and presentation styles are outstanding. You know how to present new information in a clear and concise manner that is easily digestible by adult learners. You understand basic adult learning principles. You can keep an audience engaged and you understand how to reflect back what you hear.</li> <li>Research and interview skills. You have experience conducting in-depth research and in-person/telephone interviews capturing information from and related to cross-functional groups.</li> <li>Technical aptitude. You have the ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in&nbsp;text.</li> <li>Juggling skills. You can smoothly shift priorities and project schedules.
