Industrial Designers at Array are transformational artists turning concept into reality. </span></p> <p><strong>What&rsquo;s in it for you</strong></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">This is a creative, problem-solving role in a design space and lean manufacturing environment. You will have the chance to flourish as part of the creative arm of the company.</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">With clients around the world, this is a chance for you to travel to work in New York, Mexico or China to work onsite a few days a year, gathering information and testing ideas. You will gain exposure to a range of manufacturing best practices as we design, plan and build our displays in-house. From vacuum forming, acrylic molding, wood works, and metal capabilities, you will gain expansive knowledge of the industry.</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Joining Array as an Industrial Designer now is a chance to rapidly expand your hands on experience, to take on projects with increasing complexity and to move up within the department and the organization. </span></p>
Responsibilities: <p><strong>How our new Industrial Designer will contribute to fulfilling our objectives:</strong></p> <ul> <li style="font-weight: 400;"><strong><em>Create new product solutions.</em></strong><span style="font-weight: 400;"> As an industrial designer, you will bring your passion for innovation and continuous learning. You will stay abreast of trends, best practices, design technology (software/hardware) and materials/processes that are most commonly used within the industry through publications, tradeshows, seminars or conferences. You will collaborate with associates on the development and execution of design/engineering solutions to ensure design intent is maintained through the final phases of production.</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 400;"><strong><em>Develop platform product solutions.</em></strong><span style="font-weight: 400;"> As a contributing team member, you will work on the end-to-end design process. You will consult directly with the Design Manager and/or Director or Sales Team to establish and evaluate assignment requests and deliverables at initial briefing. You will create assembly and part drawings of selected designs using CAD Software for prototyping, pre-production or production use. You will coordinate the fabrication of models or samples as well as review detail drawings developed from sketches or renderings.</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 400;"><strong><em>Improve existing product solutions.</em></strong><span style="font-weight: 400;"> As a team dedicated to continuous improvement, you will be assigned research tasks to better understand the brand and consumer behavior as it relates to the design request. You will work with the Design Manager and/or Director to evaluate the feasibility of concepts by considering practicality, aesthetics, budget, production cost/methods, and brand characteristics.</span></li> </ul>
Requirements: <p><strong>So, how do we know you are the Industrial Designer for us? You have:</strong></p> <ul> <li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">The education. A degree or diploma in industrial design or a similar program. Experience in developing ideas from initial concept to production-ready designs. A solid understanding of manufacturing processes and retail design experience are nice to have but not required.</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">The creativity and the innovation. Be exceptionally creative and possess an understanding of the design process. Strong design skills: ideation, sketching, concept generation. The ability to receive and apply feedback, learn from critiques and grow your skills.</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">The drive and motivation. Commitment to delivering quality results and overcoming obstacles in a time-sensitive environment. Ability to prioritize multiple work streams while remaining calm in a fast-paced department and seek out new projects upon completion.</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">The interpersonal skills. Excellent verbal and written communication including the ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. The ability to build relationships and the comfort to reach out to internal and external contacts to request information. The confidence to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">The technical skills. Proficiency in SolidWorks, Photoshop and Illustrator. Experience with 3D Studio Max is an asset.</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">The flexibility. Can commit to a six month contract with the possibility of extension.
