Reporting to the Department Manager, Prototype Development, we are adding a <strong>Production Planner</strong> to the team. You will own the planning and scheduling of all activities within the Product Development Department. This role is centred on strong project planning capabilities paired with exceptional project management &amp; intrapersonal skills.

Responsibilities: <p><strong>What our new Production Planner will do:</strong></p> <ul> <li><em>Develop schedule.</em>&nbsp;You will plan a schedule in Daily/Weekly increments of all Machine Operators, CNC programmers, model makers and sign-off coordinators. You will establish a set sequence and appropriate lead time based on insights into each operation and the need to meet due dates. You will provide a prototyping schedule to the team to initiate planning activities.&nbsp;</li> <li><em>Achieve labour needs.</em>&nbsp;You will analyze estimated hours and departmental capacity at a dynamic level, and perform&nbsp;mathematical calculations to achieve labour needs for the total business requirements based on the Department Manager&rsquo;s direction, seeking approval from the Department Manager to add flex capacity using data models.</li> <li><em>Share knowledge.&nbsp;</em>You will assist in daily/weekly status meetings with Commercial Teams and Production Project Managers to ensure on-time completion of tools and prototypes. You will initiate action with Shop Lead and Department Manager to mitigate issues related to quality and productivity that could affect on-time delivery of a prototype.&nbsp;</li> <li><em>Measure. You will</em>: <ul> <li>Enter the calculated time (Takt Time) for each product development operation, based on the estimated quoted hours by operation.&nbsp;</li> <li>Compare (BOM) requested operations to estimated quotes to ensure there is no overlap or missed operations.&nbsp;</li> <li>Maintain and provide accurate information for department KPI&rsquo;s in a timely fashion.&nbsp;</li> <li>Confer with Model Makers &amp; Pre-production Sign-off Coordinators to determine the status of assigned projects.&nbsp;</li> <li>Review KPIs status with the team during daily/weekly meetings.&nbsp;</li> <li>Track schedule attainment and reports root causes for any deviation including recovery plan.&nbsp;</li> </ul> </li> </ul>
Requirements: <p><strong>The skills you bring:</strong></p> <ul> <li><em>The education and experience.&nbsp;</em>You have a degree or diploma&nbsp; in Business Administration, Project Management, Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, or similar field with at least 2 years of&nbsp; experience in a Scheduling &amp; Planning role. You can read and interpret documents such as design briefs, safety rules, and procedure manuals.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li> <li><em>The project management mindset.</em>&nbsp;You are process oriented and deadline driven with a high attention to detail. You can manage stakeholder expectations, share knowledge, and meet competing deliverables, pivoting as needed based on demand. You have good judgment and problem-solving skills, using logic and reasoning to identify alternate solutions.</li> <li><em>The technical skills.&nbsp;</em>You have hands-on knowledge of scheduling software/ tools, spreadsheets, word processing. You can collect, enter, analyse and report on data using a common database software program.</li> <li><em>The communication skills.&nbsp;</em>You have strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to compose correspondence, interact by telephone or in-person, and write reports.
