Vastly different from construction, this is an exciting opportunity for a recent grad with engineering and mathematical skills to gain direct, hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment. We need a Cost Estimator who can jump in for the next three months to crunch numbers, conduct analyses and present findings. Responsibilities: <p><strong>What our new Estimator will do:</strong></p> <ul> <li><em>Collaborate.&nbsp;</em>Collect and receive information from the internal Design, Engineering and Sales teams to work on 7+ estimates a week. Analyze the details provided for proper manufacturing direction and reach back out via phone or email to fill in gaps.</li> <li><em>Draft a working estimate.&nbsp;</em>Interpret renderings or sketch drawings to calculate complete estimates with yields, call-outs, and assumptions for use by Project Management. Retrieve accurate pricing from external vendors to feed the estimate.</li> <li><em>Determine an accurate and detailed estimate.&nbsp;</em>Obtain all required information from Sales, Design and Engineering to quote the customer&rsquo;s needs and alternative solutions. Review and understand the customer&rsquo;s contract and specifications. Transpose estimate into a comprehensive and understandable written summary to be used in formal quotes to the clients.</li> <li><em>Analyze the data.</em>&nbsp;Determine the most effective and cost-efficient method to build the desired product and thus produce the internal cost and sell price. Determine the most effective manufacturing location and strategy.</li> <li><em>Think critically.&nbsp;</em>Verify previous estimates and adjust estimates per revision or internal process changes. Investigate and suggest alternative production methods, improve design and manufacturing cost-effectiveness.</li> <li><em>Present findings.&nbsp;</em>Deliver key insights to management on best pricing for customers while maintaining profits for the company.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <p><strong>So, how do we know you are the Estimator for us? You have:</strong></p> <ul> <li>The education. Diploma or degree in engineering or a related field.</li> <li>The technical skills. Advanced ability with Microsoft Excel. Strong mathematical skills and the ability to interpret engineering design documents.</li> <li>The accuracy and innovation. Strong attention to detail and ability to work through various issues. Highly organized and extremely accurate.</li> <li>The drive and motivation. Commitment to delivering quality results and overcoming obstacles in a time-sensitive environment. Ability to prioritize multiple work streams while remaining calm in a fast-paced department and seek out new projects upon completion.</li> <li>The interpersonal skills. Excellent verbal and written communication.
