Joining us now is a chance to lead our transformation, to make a mark and chart our future and your own career.</p> <p><strong>Who we need</strong></p> <p>Reporting directly to and working under the supervision of the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager, we are seeking a Health and Safety Specialist for a newly created role at our Long Island facility (formerly Summit Manufacturing). This is a chance to develop a culture of safety as you build the program from the ground up. You will be the go-to person to facilitate corporate training to ensure a unified approach while prioritizing safety. Responsibilities: <p><strong>What our new Health and Safety Specialist will focus on:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Training. You will design, develop and deliver Health and Safety training for current employees. You will maintain and update training records. You will perform safety orientations for all employees, contractors, and visitors.</li> <li>Policy writing. You will maintain and update Health and Safety policies, programs, and reports, as needed.</li> <li>Issue advisement. You will provide technical expertise in special health, safety and environmental areas such as industrial hygiene, emergency preparedness and response, incident investigation, pollution prevention, waste management, chemical management, air and water pollution control.</li> <li>Compliance. You will support the EHS Manager and Array Leadership, ensuring all applicable EHS legislation, codes and standards are satisfied. You will conduct safety and environmental audits and inspections and maintain records.</li> <li>Incident prevention and response. You will routinely monitor production to promote safe working conditions; maintain and update Safety Data Sheets and related material. You will coordinate with outside vendors to complete safety/environmental work as needed. You will conduct investigations for Health and Safety incidents.</li> <li>Array&rsquo;s Early and Safety Return to Work Program. You will support the program and assist with injury claims management as required.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <p><strong>So, how do we know you are the new Health and Safety Specialist? You have:</strong></p> <ul> <li>The education. College diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Engineering or related discipline required. OHSA certification in Industrial/Manufacturing safety is required. Full or Associate standing as a Certified Safety Professional is highly desirable. COSS is a bonus.</li> <li>The experience. 3-5 years in an industrial environment (e.g., manufacturing, oil and gas, pharma warehousing or distribution centre experience) developing, implementing, evaluating and administering health, safety and environmental programs. Comfort with MS Office. Working knowledge of applicable Environmental, Health and Safety legislation, codes and standards.</li> <li>The accuracy and the innovation. Strong attention to detail and ability to work through various issues. Highly organized and extremely accurate.</li> <li>The drive and motivation. Commitment to delivering quality results and overcoming obstacles in a time-sensitive environment. Ability to prioritize multiple work streams while remaining calm in a fast-paced department and seek out new projects upon completion.</li> <li>The interpersonal skills. Excellent verbal and written communication. Ability to build relationships and the comfort to reach out to internal and external contacts to request information. Conversational Spanish is required.</li> <li>The flexibility. You are a team player ready to jump in whenever and wherever needed. You take a collaborative approach to your work, and yet you thrive in an autonomous role.
