Joining us now is a chance to lead our transformation, to make a mark and chart our future and your own career.</p> <p><strong>Who we need</strong></p> <p>As we continue to grow, we need to bring on board a new Assistant Controller as part of our Finance organization, comprised of three financial business units (Canada, the US, and Europe). Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Assistant Controller is a hands-on leader with a team of nine direct-reports. This is an exciting opportunity to expand your skills as you manage full cycle accounting, reporting, credit and collections, A/P functions, general ledger, treasury and financial analysis. Responsibilities: <p><strong>What our new Assistant Controller will focus on:</strong></p> <ul> <li>The overall financial close process. You will support key financial processes including purchase-to-payables, order-to-collections, banking, and payroll. You will oversee the day to day banking requirements and ensure we are compliant with the credit agreement. You will: <ul> <li>Review and execute the hedging strategy.</li> <li>Manage insurance and renewals.</li> <li>Ensure tax compliance with Local and US regulations.</li> <li>Coordinate the External Audit requirements and implement any recommendations.&nbsp; &nbsp;</li> <li>Respond to ad-hoc queries and requests for financial support for projects and special initiatives.</li> </ul> </li> <li>Work in partnership with senior management and General Manager(s). You will: <ul> <li>Facilitate discussions, interpret results and provide guidance as a value-add business partner to business units and the senior leadership team.</li> <li>Identify risks and opportunities to develop key business performance metrics.</li> </ul> </li> <li>Reporting and processes. You will: <ul> <li>Design, implement and test internal controls governing financial reporting.</li> <li>Manage credit collection process, ensuring KPIs are met.</li> <li>Manage payables process, ensuring vendors are paid on time with team support.</li> <li>Design and implement financial reporting systems, procedures and policies.</li> <li>Lead a cross functional team. You will: <ul> <li>Provide leadership and mentoring as you help the team to achieve their KPIs.</li> <li>Build an effective team by aligning the goals of the company with their individual development goals.</li> <li>Provide the support and tools to retain and grow your team.</li> </ul> </li> </ul> </li> </ul>
Requirements: <p><strong>So, how do we know you are the new Assistant Controller? You have:</strong></p> <ul> <li>The education and experience. You have a professional accounting designation CPA or CA combined with 5-7 years of accounting and management experience in the manufacturing industry; a solid understanding of Canadian GAAP and U.S. GAAP; and, familiarity with Bill 198 or Sarbanes Oxley internal controls environments. Experience within the &lsquo;Big Four&rsquo; would be preferable.</li> <li>The technical skills. You are an Excel Superuser and have hands-on experience with an ERP system; ideally migrating from manual to automation in ERP.</li> <li>The leadership. You have the ability to mentor and lead a team of 9 including 3 direct reports. You can organize and assign workload appropriately and contribute to a flexible, solutions focused working culture that fosters personal development. You are a persuasive negotiator, a solver of problems, and a conflict management expert.</li> <li>The exceptional communication. You are well spoken and can build internal and external relationships across any level of an organization.
