Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Provide Technical support n straight forward and complex distribution design scenarios.</li> <li>Utilize and learn engineering software packages to complete distribution design.</li> <li>Lead a portion of overhead and underground electrical distribution projects by creating detailed scopes and estimates, performing calculations, developing detailed design drawings following applicable utility standards.</li> <li>Design projects for make ready &ldquo;Joint Use Attachment.&rdquo;</li> <li>Interface with client and line construction crews.</li> <li>Complete site visits and field assignments as required. Perform site walks and as-build documentation.</li> <li>Communicate with Project Manager and Associate Director on workload status to meet designated chargeability goals.</li> <li>Provide additional project support by drafting documents and computations and local permit applications.</li> <li>Complete edits and modify plans reviewed by agencies, municipalities, and clients as directed.</li> <li>A basic understanding of the following technical skills that pertain to your assigned region: <ul> <li>Automated Utility Design (AUD)</li> <li>Construction Cost Estimating</li> <li>Construction Practices</li> <li>Overhead Electric Utility Design</li> <li>Underground Electric Utility Design</li> <li>Local Electric Utility Code Requirements</li> <li>Site Planning</li> </ul> </li> <li>Adherence to Atwell Product Quality Standards.</li> <li>Background in Electric Distribution, Natural Gas Distribution, and/or Communications (Fiber).</li> <li>Strong aptitude for structural analysis, sag analysis, basic algebra, and geometry.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>Proficiency in NESC, PENG (overhead and underground).</li> <li>Proven experience in distribution, transmission, system improvement projects, substation design, service design, and switch replacements.</li> <li>Knowledge of engineering design software applications: PLS CADD, PLS Pole, SPIDACalc, Quick Pole, CDEGS, CYMEDIST, CYMECAP, CYMETCC, SAG10.</li> <li>Mastery of AutoCAD and familiarity with AUD (Automated Utility Design) is a plus.</li> <li>Great interpersonal skills with the ability to develop business relationships.</li> <li>Strong knowledge of Ontario Electric Safety Code, Ontario Reg. 22/04, and applicable CSA standards is expected.</li> <li>Preference for experience designing, reviewing, and checking combined civil and electrical utility infrastructure such as for utility relocations, Joint Use applications, and pole/tower foundations.</li> </ul>
