Overview: <p>The Maintenance Training &amp; Safety Supervisor is responsible for day-to-day management of worksite trainers and for directing the successful delivery and continued improvement of BCMEA&rsquo;s maintenance training programs. In addition, the Maintenance Training &amp; Safety Supervisor will provide regular coaching, guidance, and evaluation for trainers to ensure trainees receive fair, consistent, and effective training within specified timelines and budgets.</p>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Manages the work of unionized trainers and coordinators and regular workforce</li> <li>Fosters collaborative working relationships with member company representatives, union trainers and coordinators</li> <li>Determines the quantity and frequency of training to ensure enough candidates are trained to meet needs of the employers, and monitors to ensure needs, training targets and budgets are met</li> <li>Supports trainers and coordinators by ensuring they have appropriate materials, facilities and equipment</li> <li>Analyzes existing training programs to assess quality and efficacy</li> <li>Solicits training program improvement recommendations from trainers and industry representatives</li> <li>Validates course content ensuring that it is current, relevant and meets regulatory compliance</li> <li>Collaborates with subject matter experts and technical advisors to determine training needs and objectives</li> <li>Screens training applicants to assess for suitability based on established criteria</li> <li>Monitors and approves exceptional training circumstances. Ensures justification for training outside of budgets</li> <li>Arranges and supervises retraining, evaluation and documentation as required</li> <li>Ensures BCMEA management rights are represented</li> <li>Investigates circumstances of accidents and incidents</li> <li>Create and develop training material with regulations and safety as a leading factor</li> <li>Administer and prioritize maintenance, preventative maintenance, and repair of equipment</li> <li>Maintain knowledge of diesel combustion/fuel systems, hydraulic system and components, and electrical systems</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>Degree or Diploma in Operations, Trades Certification, Project Management, Health &amp; Safety or similar discipline, and 5+ years supervisory experience preferred</li> <li>Proven ability to work effectively with a diverse workforce</li> <li>Strong analytical aptitude, proven research skills and the ability to assess and interpret data</li> <li>Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage others professionally on sensitive issues</li> <li>Understanding of best practices in adult education, combined with an understanding of instructional methods, assessment, program development and training procedures</li> <li>Familiarity with confined space, transportation of dangerous goods, and electrical safety an asset</li> <li>Previous experience delivering on-the-job training, particularly in a unionized environment, is an asset</li> <li>Competent in the operation and maintenance of various heavy equipment</li> <li>Good oral and written communication skills</li> <li>Aptitude for critical thinking, problem solving and the ability to resolve issues in a timely manner</li> <li>Ability to successfully manage personnel and multiple projects on time and on budget</li> <li>Self-motivated and the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision</li> <li>Advanced user of Microsoft Office Suite</li> <li>Knowledge of preventative maintenance software an asset</li> <li>Driver&rsquo;s License and access to own vehicle required</li> <li>Red seal licence preferred</li> <li>Transport Security Clearance Eligible</li> </ul> <br /><em>We thank all applicants for their interest; however only those selected for interviews will be contacted. &nbsp;The BCMEA is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes all applicants.</em>
