Overview: <p>We require a business-oriented, creative, inquisitive, passionate, and well-organized professional with a very strong quantitative background and recent professional experience in data science work.&nbsp; This position is critical to support the ongoing development of the BCMEA Analytics program, and to push the program to new levels in support of BCMEA&rsquo;s long-term 2035 strategic initiative.</p>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Acting as a primary resource for sophisticated model development and conceptualization of data pipelines appropriate to the given project.</li> <li>Working collaboratively with BCMEA&rsquo;s Programmers, Developers, and DBA&rsquo;s to implement conceptualized data pipelines to feed model result to Tableau Server, BCMEA websites, The Helm intranet, internal reporting tools, Twitter, customer-members, or other 3rd parties.</li> <li>Working collaboratively with the Data Analyst to ensure the smooth operation of BCMEA&rsquo;s Data Analytics Triage.</li> <li>Participating in Data Doctor Open Office Hours.</li> <li>Supporting the continued curation of BCMEA Analytics reports.</li> <li>Expanding the portfolio of BCMEA Analytics reports as driven by demand but also as pushed by the candidate and the BCMEA Analytics team.</li> <li>Project tracking via Jira software.</li> <li>Liaising with BCMEA LAN team to ensure established Tableau Server governance procedures are followed.</li> <li>Staying abreast of waterfront industry trends and analytics trends and proposing new methods and techniques to push the BCMEA Analytics program to new levels.</li> <li>A high degree of interaction with staff of all levels across the Association, as well as the Association&rsquo;s member companies, and a number of 3rd party stakeholders.</li> <li>This is a full-time position</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>Candidates should a hold an undergraduate degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, Finance, Business, or similar field combined with a certificate or graduate degree in Data Science, Data Analysis, Business Analytics, Operations Research, or similar.</li> <li>Candidates must have proven experience in the use of a business-standard data science toolkit &ndash; Python, R, Jupyter Notebook, MongoDB, Tableau, SQL, etc.</li> <li>Experience with Machine Learning, Optimization Modeling, Simulation Modeling (Probability Theory), and a variety of Data Scraping/Wrangling techniques.</li> <li>Candidates should be familiar with a variety of statistical and mathematical modeling techniques, optimization, simulation, and probability distributions.</li> <li>Familiarity with visual best practices preferred.</li> <li>3-5 years of similar work or consulting experience is an asset.</li> <li>Knowledge and experience with unionized labour inventory management, health and safety, or transportation and logistics beneficial.</li> </ul>
