Overview: <p>Reporting into the Training Manager, the Recruitment &amp; Apprenticeship Coordinator is responsible for overseeing talent recruitment through a union co-creation process, managing the registration and training of union-hired individuals, and ensuring they receive mandatory safety training. This role facilitates the scheduling and coordination of the diverse training programs for Apprentices and Tradespeople, ensuring effective communication amongst stakeholders.<br /><br />This role is a 12 month contract position, with strong possibility of extension.</p>
Responsibilities: <p>Apprentice Program:</p> <ul> <li>Coordinate and manage the apprentice lifecycle and maintain detailed records</li> <li>Liaise with stakeholders, support onboarding, coordinate apprentice graduation and updates to terminals</li> <li>Organize and schedule training sessions, facilitating skills development</li> <li>Provide data analytics, manage apprentice details, and oversee administrative tasks</li> <li>Review and update the SOP for the apprentice process</li> </ul> <p>Trades Recruitment:</p> <ul> <li>Participate in union meetings and discussions regarding trades recruitment</li> <li>Manage onboarding of new tradespersons</li> <li>Attend and participate in Waterfront Basics training to ensure standard delivery of program</li> <li>Partner with Training Manager to oversee recruitment lifecycle</li> <li>Schedule trainers and support them with training sessions</li> <li>Verify Red Seal certificates, update records, distribute PPE, manage trades ratings with dispatch</li> </ul> <p>Recruitment:</p> <ul> <li>Partner with Training Manager to manage recruitment cycle for longshore including session scheduling and overseeing exams and written tests</li> <li>Coordinate training schedules, classroom set-ups, and logistical support for various safety training programs</li> <li>Provide in field support travelling between terminals and BCMEA sites to support trainers and classes</li> <li>Provide administrative support to the recruitment process, including port pass issuance, creation of new employee files, and uploading trainee documents</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>Relevant diploma or degree in a related field such as Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, or a combination of education and experience</li> <li>2-3 years experience within a similar role or field, experience with training and training coordination an asset</li> <li>Microsoft 365 proficiency, and ability to quickly understand new technology and systems</li> <li>Experience with Tableau and/or ADP Payroll an asset</li> <li>Certification in workplace safety (WHMIS, First Aid) preferred</li> <li>Knowledge of Skills Trades BC Red Seal certification verification processes an asset</li> <li>Knowledge of union processes, regulations, and/or waterfront industry knowledge is an asset</li> <li>Adaptability and motivation to step in where needed</li> <li>Ability to maintain high-quality communication standards</li> <li>Ability to maintain highly confidential information, ensuring proper handling</li> <li>Ability to carry boxes up to 30lbs (13.6kg)</li> </ul>
