Responsibilities: <p><strong>Location: Burnaby</strong></p> <ul> <li>Manage, identify, evaluate and monitor all HSE program needs and requirements in BC</li> <li>Formulate plans to address and resolve HSE issues, ensure contract compliance and promote a zero harm Health, Safety, and Environment culture.</li> <li>Ensure all BURNCO HSE programs comply with applicable laws, and client rules and requirements.</li> <li>Plan and assist with rewarding and managing employees and resolving complaints and problems.</li> <li>Evaluate and prepare the organization for annual COR audits.</li> <li>Manage internal and external contractor prequalification systems: ISN, Avetta, Complyworks &amp; Canal.</li> <li>Develop and revise the HSE Management system records.</li> <li>Assist with Incident Investigations, Hazard Assessments, Safety Inspections, Safety Meetings.</li> <li>Develop, update and test Emergency Response plans.</li> <li>Plan and carry out HSE Management reviews to assess a site&rsquo;s compliance.</li> <li>Establish and maintain site hazard register, leading indicator and lagging indicator programs.</li> <li>Inform and communicate with site team members on the corporate HSE Management System.</li> <li>Prepare and update the HSE Management Plans and documentation.</li> <li>Provide leadership and direction to ensure the successful delivery, implementation, and administration of corporate HSE policies, processes and systems.</li> <li>Manage all HSE activities within the operational context (i.e. ensure plans, tools, and processes are in place to allow for success).</li> </ul>
Requirements: <p><strong>What we need from you:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of Worksafe BC regulations and standards with specific experience in construction, mobile equipment and mining activities.</li> <li>Formal HSE education &ndash; degree or technical diploma.</li> <li>Needs to be comfortable working in a matrixed environment,</li> <li>A minimum of 5 years' experience in a regional safety leadership role.</li> <li>Preference given to those with their Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation or Certified Safety Professional or candidates that have substantial safety experience and are currently pursuing their CRSP designation.</li> <li>Proficiency with computer systems and applications including the Microsoft Office Suite.</li> <li>Excellent written, oral and presentation communication skills.</li> <li>Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test where and when required for site access.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Reality of the Job:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Work in an office but will frequently perform site visits and willing to travel to interior BC</li> <li>Hours of Work Monday through Friday; start and end times may vary depending on business needs</li> <li>Weekend work may be required occasionally depending on business needs</li> <li>Must be capable of answering or responding to calls away from work at times</li> </ul>
