Overview: <strong data-redactor-tag="strong">BURNCO </strong>is looking to hire a talented Network Administrator to join our Information Technology team. Located in our Calgary Head Office, as the successful candidate you will report directly to the Infrastructure Operations Lead. As our Network Administrator you will assist in the organization and management of the overall network, ensuring the stable operations of <strong data-redactor-tag="strong">BURNCO&rsquo;s</strong> network and telecom environment. The <strong data-redactor-tag="strong">BURNCO </strong>Network Administrator shares responsibility for the operational support of our network and telecommunications infrastructure &ndash; LANs and WANs, including both wired and wireless. This work covers any changes to the network including equipment installation, software upgrades and patching in a manner that minimizes the disruption of business operations. Responsibilities: <p>In addition to the&nbsp;overall responsibilities mentioned, here's:</p> <p><strong data-redactor-tag="strong">What You Will Be Doing:</strong></p> <p><strong data-redactor-tag="strong">Strategy &amp; Planning</strong></p> <ul> <li>Assist leadership in the design and implementation surrounding short- and long-term strategic plans to ensure infrastructure capacity meets existing and future requirements (including disaster recovery and back up strategies);</li> <li>Maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for network/telecom architecture and IT operations;</li> </ul> <p><strong data-redactor-tag="strong">Administration &amp; Deployment</strong></p> <ul> <li>Prepare work reports and other documentation for operational and project related efforts. Work with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure IT operational products and services;</li> <li>Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot networking hardware, software, and communication peripherals.</li> </ul> <p><strong data-redactor-tag="strong">Operational Management</strong></p> <ul> <li>Assist in day to day operations of the network infrastructure;</li> <li>Participate in troubleshooting network outages or performance issues;</li> <li>Determine cause of high priority incidents to ensure they are prevented from happening in the future;</li> <li>Resolve incidents and trouble tickets as per established service levels;</li> <li>Install and configure network equipment and maintain network connectivity;</li> <li>Practice network, UPS and communications asset management, including maintenance of component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information;</li> <li>Execute network security measures as directed by security and senior staff and monitor for threats;</li> <li>Perform technical administration of the Unified Communications environment;</li> <li>Works closely with Senior Network Team members to propose improvements to the network infrastructure and executes various projects to improve network service availability;</li> <li>Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with the <strong data-redactor-tag="strong">BURNCO </strong>IT team, decision-makers, and end users regarding pertinent technology activities;</li> <li>Track, analyze and report on trends in network/telecom requests;</li> <li>Assist in the development and dissemination of usage guides, and FAQ lists for end users;</li> <li>Participate in change management reviews and advisory.</li> </ul> <p><strong data-redactor-tag="strong">Reality of the Job:</strong></p> <ul> <li>On-call availability required;</li> <li>Frequent travel to multiple <strong data-redactor-tag="strong">BURNCO</strong> sites required;</li> <li>Routine inspection of devices, systems and cables in floors and ceilings;</li> <li>Excellent hands/fingers dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and handling other computer components;</li> <li>Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as switches, UPS and peripherals.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <p><strong data-redactor-tag="strong">You Are Someone Who Is/Has:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Highly self-motivated, with a sharp attention to detail and a dedication to organization;</li> <li>Willingly accepts direction to adapt role to organization or team changes;</li> <li>Strong understanding of the organization&rsquo;s goals and objectives;</li> <li>Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a focus on and adept at listening and questioning skills;</li> <li>Ability to absorb and retain information quickly;</li> <li>Strong documentation skills, including exceptional written and oral communication skills;</li> <li>Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment;</li> <li>Exceptional customer service orientation;</li> <li>Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language to non-technical staff and end users;</li> <li>Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment;</li> <li>Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.</li> </ul> <p><strong data-redactor-tag="strong">What We Would Like From You:</strong></p> <p><strong data-redactor-tag="strong">Knowledge &amp; Experience</strong></p> <ul> <li>Network operations, and network performance analysis skills;</li> <li>Hands-on technical troubleshooting capabilities;</li> <li>Ability to work independently under minimal supervision;</li> <li>Critical thinking and problem-solving mind set;</li> <li>Ability and authorization to travel within Canada &amp; US may be required at times;</li> <li>After hours/on call/change activity required at times;</li> <li>Proven success in contributing to a team-oriented environment;</li> <li>Knowledge of IT access controls and change management processes;</li> <li>Some experience with IoT equipment would be an asset.</li> </ul> <p><strong data-redactor-tag="strong">Qualifications</strong></p> <ul> <li>Technical Diploma or Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related field;</li> <li>Prior experience in a network administration role is preferred;</li> <li>Familiarity with network management and monitoring tools;</li> <li>Previous experience with Cisco routers and switches preferred;</li> <li>Previous experience with Cisco Meraki Wireless preferred;</li> <li>Previous experience with Palo Alto Firewalls preferred;</li> <li>Cisco/Palo Alto Networks certification(s) a plus;</li> <li>ITIL certification a plus.</li> </ul> IMPORTANT: This position may require candidates to: <ul> <li>have and maintain a valid class 5 Driver's License;</li> <li>provide a Driver's Abstract for review;</li> <li>provide a valid Canadian passport.</li> </ul>
