As a highly valued member of&nbsp;<strong data-redactor-tag="strong">BURNCO's&nbsp;</strong>People &amp; Culture team based out of our Calgary Head Office, you will be part of a dynamic team of individuals committed to ensuring the highest level of service to our internal customers.</p>
Responsibilities: <strong data-redactor-tag="strong">What you will be doing:</strong><br /> <ul> <li>Calculating payroll adjustments for new hires, terminations, leaves (start and end), etc.</li> <li>Manage time card entry, review, understanding labour charge out requirements</li> <li>Ability to calculate benefit adjustments/overrides</li> <li>Ability to generate off-cycle payments and adjustments (voids)</li> <li>Perform full payroll cycle from gross to net calculation, through the generation of employee payments, payroll journal creation to final update processing</li> <li>Responsible for calculating vacation entitlements, maintaining &amp; reporting annual vacation accruals</li> <li>Participate in payroll year-end, responsible for balancing payroll to year-end reporting, performing adjustments as required</li> <li>Document all payroll input and process/approvals for audit purposes</li> <li>Generate and manage ROEs</li> <li>Work closely with HR and Benefits on employee payment matters</li> <li>Respond to requests for payroll information, adhering to Canadian Privacy Legislation requirements at all times</li> <li>Ensure payroll processes are documented and documentation is maintained</li> <li>Participate in the management of the payroll email box, responding to business and employee inquiries in a quick and efficient manner</li> <li>Represent the Payroll department as a professional payroll practitioner</li> <li>Be aware of government and union legislation, regulation changes and react as required</li> <li>Maintain a Canadian Payroll Association membership and certification</li> <li>Accurately administrate payroll and payroll practices</li> <li>Special Projects as assigned</li> </ul>
Requirements: <p><strong data-redactor-tag="strong">What we would like from you:</strong></p> <p><strong data-redactor-tag="strong">Education:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Canadian Payroll Association, Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP)</li> <li>Minimum 2 year college diploma in a relevant field of study</li> </ul> <p><strong data-redactor-tag="strong">Qualifications &amp; Experience:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Minimum 3 to 4 years of payroll practice including the full management of payroll cycle</li> <li>Minimum of 1 year of processing payroll via an in-house payroll system</li> <li>High level working knowledge of Excel, and proficient with MS Office applications</li> <li>Basic payroll accounting understanding</li> <li>Experience with JDE, Kronos, Oracle Cloud (HCM) would be assets</li> <li>Experienced in multi-jurisdictional payroll processing</li> <li>US payroll would be an asset</li> </ul> <p><strong data-redactor-tag="strong">Skills:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Energetic self-starter able to handle the pressure of working under tight and competing deadlines</li> <li>Excellent attention to detail</li> <li>Highly analytical and organized</li> <li>Team player, ensure cross education/knowledge, ability to learn and adapt quickly</li> <li>Customer service focused</li> <li>Excellent communication skills, both in oral and written</li> </ul> <p><strong data-redactor-tag="strong">IMPORTANT:</strong>&nbsp;Candidates selected for hire for this role are subject to a background screen (which may include criminal and/or credit record checks).</p>
