To provide the crucial linkage between Operations and Finance, we are excited to be seeking an exceptional <strong>Operational Controller</strong> for our <strong>US operations</strong>. Reporting to the VP, Corporate Controller and based out of&nbsp;<strong data-redactor-tag="strong">BURNCO's</strong>&nbsp;corporate offices in Texas, as Operational Controller, US Operations you will be a key contributor providing cost accounting and insightful financial accounting advise, guidance and assistance to the region&rsquo;s management team. Functioning independently within the Finance team like an internal consultant &ndash; this role has no direct reports - you will have the resources of the greater Finance team to support your efforts. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the safe, efficient and profitable manufacture, service and distribution of our high quality construction materials and services.</p> <p>This is a big, challenging role suited ideally for someone proactive, analytical, insightful and personable who has spent time excelling at similar responsibilities in the construction or manufacturing industries and is now looking to make their mark at a large fast growing construction materials supply organization with operations in Texas and Colorado. You relish the opportunity to solve complex problems that drive financial and operational value in the organizations you work.</p>
Responsibilities: <p><strong data-redactor-tag="strong">What you will be doing:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies</li> <li>Responsible to ensure that general accounting transactions are compliant and processed</li> <li>Responsible for reviewing month end close activities to ensure accuracy of financial results</li> <li>Review and analyze monthly Operating Results, Financial Position and Cash Flow</li> <li>Work with Inventory Accountant to improve process and policy, resulting in increased accuracy of reporting</li> <li>Provide strategy and useful financial insights to the management team helping the various stakeholders make the best business decisions/strategies so that the impact of their actions on profits is positive</li> <li>Lead annual operating and capital budgeting, documentation for the US region</li> <li>Check financial information systems to ensure they are effective, and that appropriate internal control systems are in place and available.</li> <li>Work with management teams to identify cost leakage and waste, identifying and implementing actions for their reduction or elimination &ndash; identifying improvement areas and streamlining of processes</li> <li>Ensure compliance and timely reporting for all monthly, quarterly and annual commodity tax requirements and other regulatory reports for the region</li> <li>Ensures compliance with all government reporting requirements, state and federal</li> <li>Assist with annual audit requirements and oversee all areas of financial risk management</li> <li>Must work closely and proactively with sales and operations to streamline processes and systems and provide regular financial direction</li> <li>Provide key performance metrics</li> <li>Oversees weekly and daily cash forecasting</li> </ul>
Requirements: <p><strong data-redactor-tag="strong">What we would like from you:</strong></p> <p><strong data-redactor-tag="strong">Qualifications &amp; Experiences</strong></p> <ul> <li>Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration or similar discipline</li> <li>CPA designation</li> <li>7 to 10 years related work experience within a manufacturing or construction environment</li> <li>Solid knowledge of ERP systems; knowledge of Oracle Cloud would be an asset</li> <li>Advanced level proficiency with Excel, and well versed in the use of other MS Office applications</li> <li>Solid understanding and experience with IRS as well as Texas &amp; Colorado tax compliance</li> <li>Skilled/experienced in IFRS and ASPE</li> <li>Experience in cost accounting including preparing costing analysis, actual to variance analysis, identification of root causes of variance</li> <li>Highly analytical and driven</li> <li>Strong communication skills and above average computer skills</li> <li>Excellent problem solving and critical thinking abilities with demonstrated ability to offer strong financial analysis</li> <li>Self-starter, team player, able to work independently</li> <li>Previous experience in financial systems</li> </ul> <p><strong data-redactor-tag="strong">What's in it for you?<br /><br />Competitive&nbsp;Compensation<br /></strong></p> <p>At&nbsp;<strong data-redactor-tag="strong">BURNCO</strong>, we believe in paying people what they&rsquo;re worth.
