Overview: Recruit, advise, and enroll prospective students to the College and serve as member of a 13-person admission committee. Travel on behalf of the College, interview candidates, present to various contingencies, including students and parents, school counselors, community based organizations, and review applications to the college. The Associate Director is solely responsible for a territory of applicants in which their primary responsibility is critically assessing applications, making critical and thoughtful admission decisions, and applying strategic thought to create an impactful and inclusive campus community. Portfolio management within the admission strategic initiatives related to diversity, equity, and inclusion, which includes mentorship and partnering with other Babson partners.
Responsibilities: <br /> <ul> <li>Serves as a member of the Senior Management Team and partakes in critical decision-making at the highest level.</li> <li>Works directly with VP of Enrollment Management to develop and execute a strategic plan around Diversity and Inclusion as it relates to Enrollment and Retention.</li> <li>Serves as mentor for the Diversity Leadership Scholars in conjunction with The Office of Multicultural and Identity Programs.</li> <li>Reviews admission applications to the College, presents recommendations to the admission committee and has ownership in decision-making processes (this includes some evening and weekend work).</li> <li>Maintains responsibility for geographic territory including oversight of inquiry and applicant statistics; as well as cultivating relationships with students, school counselors, and alumni/ae.</li> <li>Interviews and conducts Group Information Sessions and travels to represent Babson at high schools, community colleges, college fairs, and other appropriate programs (this includes some evening and weekend work).</li> <li>Takes the lead on specialized roles that may include Student or Alumni Volunteer Programs, Campus Events, Transfer Admission, International Recruitment, Athletics Liaison and/or other admission projects as assigned.</li> <li>Directly manages and mentors Assistant/Senior Assistant Directors and assists in the training and development of new and current employees</li> <li>Assumes additional responsibilities as required.</li> </ul> <br />Supervises:<br />Assistant/Senior Assistant Director(s)<br />Student admission fellows
Requirements: <br />Minimum Level of Education Required Bachelor’s Degree<br /><br />Position Knowledge/Skills & Abilities Requirements:<br /><ul><li>Requires a minimum of 6-8 years of previous experience including demonstrated experience working with diverse populations and developing innovative initiatives for underrepresented populations; and previous admission experience required.</li><li>Must have a minimum of 1-2 years of previous experience in managing full-time staff, interns, and/or fellows with responsibility for expectation setting.</li><li>Ability to work independently to solve problems; look for opportunities to take on responsibility; take thoughtful risks; and effectively act on new and ongoing initiatives, objectives, and solutions to gain sought-after results.</li><li>Commitment to a diverse working environment and to cultivating a diverse community.</li><li>Excellent public speaking, interpersonal, and written communication skills.</li><li>Demonstrated interest in enrolling and retaining a diverse student body with a focused interest in the value of a global education. </li><li>Willingness to serve as a liaison to other offices on campus.</li><li>Ability to create an environment where direct reports have the freedom and security to take initiative; deal with complexities with resilience, resourcefulness, and optimism; and appreciate open mindedness, creativity, and agility in thought and tactics.</li><li>Creates an environment where direct reports have the freedom and security to take initiative; deals with complexities with resilience, resourcefulness, and optimism; and appreciates open mindedness, creativity, and agility in thought and tactics.</li><li>Embraces ideas and changes created by all community members. </li><li>Works independently to solve problems; looks for opportunities to take on responsibility; takes thoughtful risks; and effectively acts on new and ongoing initiatives, objectives, and solutions to gain sought-after results.</li><li>Anticipates and effectively handles change; demonstrates willingness to try new skills and challenging tasks; and is flexible in changing conditions.</li><li>Working Conditions:<br /></li><li>Requires a willingness to work some evenings and weekends.</li><li>Requires the ability to travel both domestically and internationally (annual travel is estimated at approximately 6-8 weeks per year).</li><li>Must have had a valid unrestricted U.S. Driver’s License for one year, and maintain throughout employment an insurable (as determined by the College’s insurer’s criteria) or a satisfactory driving record; must successfully complete and pass the College’s vehicle training program within the first 60 days of employment; annual or more frequent review of employee’s driving record based on the College insurer’s criteria; and safety training as required by management.</li><li>Additional Experience, Skills & Abilities:<br /></li><li>Involvement and/or leadership in affiliate organization such as NEACAC, NACAC, IACAC, College Board, etc. preferred but not required.</li><li>Previous Familiarity with using Slate as a CRM platform preferred.</li><li>Prefer active participation with professional associations for diversity and inclusion.</li></ul>
