Overview: In collaboration with the Vice President, the AVP for Major Giving will direct the coordination of the fundraising activities inclusive of major and leadership giving. Specifically responsible for building, leading, managing, and providing motivation, accountability, and structure for a dynamic team focused on maximizing the level of support for the College; participating as part of the Development Office&rsquo;s senior leadership team who is collectively working on a highly successful campaign for Babson College; responsibility for the creation and management of a comprehensive donor development strategy for their portfolio along with direct reports; working collaboratively with a wide array of professionals and leaders to help build a robust portfolio of current and future donors in support of a comprehensive campaign; and participating in strategic planning cultivation and solicitation of an assigned portfolio of key prospects.
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Provide leadership and guidance for the Major Gifts teams to ensure donor engagement and revenue targets are achieved for both annual and long term fundraising initiatives; oversee comprehensive team with a focus on strategy to cultivate, solicit, and steward donors to support College priorities.</li> <li>Manage team to provide support for individual constituencies such as Centers and Institutes.</li> <li>Create and manage a comprehensive donor development strategy for own and direct staff member&rsquo;s portfolios; provide motivation, strategy, accountability, and structure for staff to engage in ambitious major gift fundraising campaigns.</li> <li>Manage individual major gift portfolio to cultivate, solicit, and close gifts from key prospects at $100,000 and above through multiple contacts and face-to-face visits, to average 15 visits per month.</li> <li>Delivers weekly updates to the Vice President of Development, including a pending and pre-proposal pipeline and an activity report.</li> <li>Work with colleagues to develop effective proposals and presentations for prospects to achieve the goals and objectives of the fundraising plans.</li> <li>Work closely with advancement leadership to develop fundraising strategies for top college prospects.</li> <li>Support annual giving through solicitations and engagement</li> <li>Assumes additional responsibilities as required.<u></u></li> </ul> <strong><u>Supervises:</u></strong> <ul> <li dir="LTR">Advancement Officers</li> <li dir="LTR">Administrative Assistant</li> </ul>
Requirements: <p dir="LTR" style="display: inline !important;"><strong><u>Education Requirements:</u></strong></p> <ul> <li dir="LTR">Minimum Level of Education <span class="WEL2">Required&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</span></li> <li dir="LTR">Bachelor&rsquo;s Degre</li> </ul> <p dir="LTR"><strong><u>Position Knowledge/Skills &amp; Abilities Requirements:</u></strong></p> <ul> <li>Requires a minimum of 10-15 years of senior-level fundraising and campaign experience, preferably in higher education.</li> <li>Must have strong leadership and management experience, as well as the ability to serve as a mentor within the Development Office.</li> <li>Ability to envision and propose new methods to perform tasks that support ET&amp;A; take thoughtful risks; and accept new and ongoing initiatives, objectives, and solutions to gain sought-after results.</li> <li>Ability to anticipate and embrace change; demonstrate a willingness to achieve, acquire, and utilize new skills and challenging tasks; and is flexible in changing conditions.</li> <li>Must have an entrepreneurial approach to fundraising, combined with professional integrity and a commitment to the collaborative process.</li> <li>Must have strategic planning, organizational, and communication skills to articulate the mission of the College and fundraising goals of the campaign.</li> <li>Demonstrated effectiveness in working with a diverse student body, faculty, staff, and other constituents.</li> <li>Ability to create an environment where direct reports have the freedom and security to take initiative; deal with complexities with resilience, resourcefulness, and optimism; and appreciate open-mindedness, creativity, and agility in thought and tactics.</li> <li>Ability to establish creditability and confidence with stakeholders.</li> <li>Must have exceptional collaboration and interpersonal skills, and the ability to be effective engagement with all levels within the college.</li> <li>Must have significant knowledge, understanding, and experience in the field of fundraising.</li> <li>Must be conversant in planned giving opportunities and engage donors in conversations about planned giving.</li> <li>Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).</li> </ul> <strong><u>Working Conditions:</u></strong><br /> <ul> <li>Flexibility and willingness to travel as a representative of Babson.</li> <li>Must have had a valid unrestricted U.S. Driver&rsquo;s License for one year, and maintain throughout employment an insurable (as determined by the College&rsquo;s insurer&rsquo;s criteria) or a satisfactory driving record; must successfully complete and pass the College&rsquo;s vehicle training program within the first 60 days of employment; annual or more frequent review of employee&rsquo;s driving record based on the College insurer&rsquo;s criteria; and safety training as required by management<u></u></li> </ul> <strong><u>Additional Required Skills and Abilities:</u></strong><br /> <ul> <li>Master&rsquo;s Degree preferred</li> </ul>
