Overview: <br />The primary role of the Associate Director is to serve as a member of the senior management team, advising and implementing the strategic institutional and admission goals set by the Vice President, Enrollment Management. Specifically responsible for managing a robust portfolio, in addition to managing the Admission team&rsquo;s junior staff, who also manage projects; recruiting, advising, and enrolling prospective students to the College and serving as an integral member of a 13-person admission committee; traveling on behalf of the College; interviewing candidates; presenting to various contingencies (students and parents, school counselors, community-based organizations); reviewing applications to the college; being solely responsible for managing the recruitment of a geographic region of the world in which their primary responsibility is critically assessing applications, making critical and thoughtful admission decisions, and applying strategic thought to create an impactful and inclusive campus community; and managing all responsibilities while taking into consideration content and delivery modalities for both in-person and virtual audiences.
Responsibilities: <br /> <ul> <li>Serves as a member of the senior management team, led by the Vice President, Enrollment Management, and partakes in critical decision-making at the highest level regarding all matters of enrollment. &nbsp;</li> <li>Leads a team in the overall management and implementation of the Admission Office&rsquo;s strategic goals (i.e., marketing strategy, including digital and print, data and reporting or domestic/international recruitment).</li> <li>Directly manages and mentors two Assistant/Senior Assistant Directors and assists in the training and development of new and current employees.</li> <li>Simultaneously supports all Admission campaigns and strategies that reach both virtual and in-person audiences; has high-level knowledge of various platforms which support all admission initiatives.</li> <li>Reviews admission applications to the College, presents recommendations to the admission committee and has ownership in decision-making processes. In addition, serves as the second reader for all applications read by first-time admission counselors.</li> <li>Maintains responsibility for geographic territory including oversight of inquiry and applicant statistics; as well as cultivating relationships with students, school counselors, community-based organizations, and alumni/ae.&nbsp;</li> <li>Interviews and conducts group information sessions that convey key institutional messaging to prospective students, families, counselors and/or other stakeholders. This includes travel to represent Babson at high schools, college fairs, and other appropriate programs; and support for all virtual programming that happens in conjunction with in-person events.</li> <li>Liaises with on-campus partners to cultivate and maintain strong working relationships that ensure all aspects of the College&rsquo;s experiences are represented throughout the admission process (i.e., Office of Student Engagement, Office of Multicultural and Identity Programs, Residential Life, etc.)</li> <li>Assumes additional responsibilities as required.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong><u>Supervises:</u></strong></p> <ul> <li>Assistant/Senior Assistant Directors (2)</li> <li>Student admission fellows</li> </ul>
Requirements: <br /> <p><strong><u>Education Requirements:<br /><br /></u></strong></p> <p>Minimum Level of Education Required: Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong><u>Position Knowledge/Skills &amp; Abilities Requirements:<br /><br /></u></strong></p> <ul> <li>Requires a minimum of 6-8 years of previous experience; previous college admission/college counseling experience required.</li> <li>Must embrace the philosophy of Entrepreneurial Thought and Action and use creativity and innovation in decision-making.</li> <li>Ability to stay informed of industry trends and developments to help guide the Office&rsquo;s admission process and operations.</li> <li>Must have a commitment to a diverse working environment and to cultivating a diverse community.</li> <li>Must have excellent public speaking, interpersonal, and written communication skills.</li> <li>Must have strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and Google Suite.</li> <li>Demonstrated interest in enrolling and retaining a diverse student body with a focused interest in the value of global education.&nbsp;</li> <li>Willingness to serve as a liaison to other offices on campus.</li> <li>Ability to create an environment where direct reports have the freedom and security to take initiative; deal with complexities with resilience, resourcefulness, and optimism; and appreciate open-mindedness, creativity, and agility in thought and tactics.</li> <li>Embraces ideas and changes created by all community members.&nbsp;</li> <li>Works independently to solve problems; looks for opportunities to take on responsibility; takes thoughtful risks; and effectively acts on new and ongoing initiatives, objectives, and solutions to gain sought-after results.</li> <li>Anticipates and effectively handles change; demonstrates willingness to try new skills and challenging tasks; and is flexible in changing conditions.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong><u>Working Conditions</u></strong>:<br /><br /></p> <ul> <li>Babson College requires all Babson faculty and staff members authorized to work on our campuses or any other property owned or controlled by the College to verify that they have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19.&nbsp; We have extended our vaccination policy to require a COVID-19 booster shot for all eligible community members as well. Students, faculty and staff must provide booster vaccination information by February 1, 2022 or within 21 days of becoming eligible for a booster (unless granted a medical accommodation or religious exemption). Requests for medical accommodation or religious exemption should be addressed directly to <a href="https://www.babson.edu/emergency-preparedness/return-to-campus/faculty-and-staff-experience/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Human Resources</a>.</li> <li>Requires a willingness to work evenings and weekends to attend events, read applications, etc.</li> <li>Requires the ability to travel both domestically and internationally (annual travel is estimated at approximately 4-6 weeks of travel in the fall and 2 in the spring).</li> <li>Must have had a valid unrestricted U.S. Driver&rsquo;s License for one year; must maintain throughout employment an insurable (as determined by the College&rsquo;s insurer&rsquo;s criteria) or a satisfactory driving record; must successfully complete and pass the College&rsquo;s vehicle training program within the first 60 days of employment; annual or more frequent review of employee&rsquo;s driving record based on the College insurer&rsquo;s criteria; and safety training as required by management.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong><u>Additional Experience, Skills &amp; Abilities:<br /><br /></u></strong></p> <ul> <li>Master&rsquo;s Degree preferred.</li> <li>Involvement and/or leadership in affiliate organizations such as NEACAC, NACAC, IACAC, College Board, etc. preferred but not required.</li> <li>Previous Familiarity with Slate as a CRM platform preferred.</li> </ul>
