Overview: <br />Under the general supervision of the Head Strength &amp; Conditioning Coach, with joint reporting to the Assistant AD for Fitness and Recreation, the Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach is responsible for creating and providing physical instruction and direction to varsity student-athletes and members of the Babson Athletic and Recreation Complex (BRAC).
Responsibilities: <br /> <p><strong>Strength &amp; Conditioning Coach:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Assists in the design, implementation, and monitoring of a year-long comprehensive strength and conditioning program for 22 varsity sports.</li> <li>In conjunction with Head Strength and Conditioning Coach, applies specific protocols for all varsity sports programs that are designed to ensure respective sports&rsquo; programs are consistent throughout the Department of Athletics and Recreation.</li> <li>Communicates with, and advises, head coaches about strength and conditioning pre and post games, and pre and post-practice activities for student-athletes.</li> <li>Assists in direct supervision and instruction of weight training and conditioning activities for varsity sports programs. Performs continual assessment of physical performance of sports teams. Provides motivation and feedback in order to ensure proper execution of training techniques.</li> <li>Works directly with Sports Medicine department to provide advice and assistance in the prevention of athletic injuries. Assists in the rehabilitation of injured athletes in conjunction with the Sports Medicine department.</li> <li>Assists in the daily oversight and maintenance of the varsity strength and conditioning areas, coordinating staffing of weight room/strength facilities, and identifying and purchasing needed strength and conditioning equipment.</li> <li>Assists the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach regarding the budget ($1 - $250,000), monitors and assists with budget preparation and record keeping (not vouching).</li> <li>Establishes and maintains relationships with regional and national athletic associations related to sports performance.</li> <li>Serves on standing and ad hoc committees directly or indirectly related to Athletics.</li> </ul> <p><em><br /></em><strong>Personal Trainer:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Ensures a safe and healthy environment for exercising.</li> <li>Gathers information on the client&rsquo;s fitness expectations. Develops, documents, and implements one-on-one programs matching the client&rsquo;s needs and goals of and provides guidance on how to accomplish these goals.</li> <li>Arrives to training sessions in advance of the scheduled time to set up training area and greet clients.</li> <li>Reports any equipment/facility problems to the management team.</li> <li>Assists patrons and clients via spotting, answers questions on exercise and technique, and provides demonstrations of fitness equipment.</li> <li>Ensures compliance with rules and regulations of Babson College.</li> <li>Attends all scheduled meetings and professional development courses.</li> <li>Assumes additional responsibilities as required.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong><u>Supervises:</u></strong></p> <ul> <li>Work Study Students (2)</li> </ul>
Requirements: <br /> <p>Minimum Level of Education Required: Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree. Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification through the National Strength and Conditioning Association or equivalent.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong><u>Position Knowledge/Skills &amp; Abilities Requirements:<br /><br /></u></strong></p> <ul> <li>At least 1+ year of strength and conditioning experience and certified in First Aid, CPR/AED.</li> <li>Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to coordinating programs for intercollegiate athletes in all areas of strength and conditioning as well as speed, agility, plyometric, flexibility, and cardiovascular training.</li> <li>Possess a willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive environment.</li> <li>Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to relate to and motivate student-athletes.</li> <li>Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).</li> <li>Strong supervisory skills.</li> <li>Ability to maintain confidentiality.</li> <li>Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.</li> <li>Must be well organized, dress appropriately in uniform, and begin and end all sessions on time.</li> </ul> <p><strong><u><br />Working Conditions:<br /><br /></u></strong></p> <ul> <li>Regular physical exertion, walking and exposure to weather required; ability to travel; ability to work nights and weekends.</li> <li>Must have had a valid unrestricted U.S. Driver&rsquo;s License for one year, and maintain throughout employment an insurable (as determined by the College&rsquo;s insurer&rsquo;s criteria) or a satisfactory driving record; must successfully complete and pass the College&rsquo;s vehicle training program within the first 30 days of employment; annual or more frequent review of employee&rsquo;s driving record based on the College insurer&rsquo;s criteria; and safety training as required by management.</li> <li>Babson College requires all Babson faculty and staff members authorized to work on our campuses or any other property owned or controlled by the College to verify that they have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19. We have extended our vaccination policy to require a COVID-19 booster shot for all eligible community members as well. Students, faculty and staff must provide booster vaccination information by February 1 or within 21 days of becoming eligible for a booster (unless granted a medical accommodation or religious exemption). Requests for medical accommodation or religious exemption should be addressed directly to Human Resources.</li> <li>This seasonal/intermittent position is contingent upon continued satisfactory performance and a continued need for skills/courses.</li> </ul>
