Overview: <p>The 10,000 Small Businesses initiative is part of a national investment to unlock the growth and job creation potential of small businesses and is based on the broadly held view of leading experts that a combination of education, business support services, and access to capital best addresses the barriers to growth for small businesses.</p> <p>The 10,000 Small Businesses program is comprised of three main components: business education, business support services (technical assistance, and group and one-on-one business growth coaching) and the opportunity to access capital. The ultimate goal of the initiative is for the participating business owners to increase their revenues and create jobs in their hometowns and surrounding areas. Through the support of the Goldman Sachs Foundation, each business owner that is selected to participate in the program will receive a scholarship to cover tuition, travel, and program materials.</p>
Responsibilities: <br /> <ul> <li>Business Advisors are essential to the success of the scholars in the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses national cohort at Babson College.</li> <li>Business Advisors work with their fourteen assigned scholars (business owners accepted into the program), to link the curriculum, business support services and capital to each scholar's strategic growth plan and pitch.</li> <li>Attend all scheduled Monday and Friday scholar webinars and all scheduled Faculty Pre-brief calls.</li> <li>Attend all nine modules and clinics: Financial Statement Workshop, Legal Clinic and Negotiations Clinic.&nbsp;</li> <li>Review each module, faculty guidebook, educational activities, clinics and accompanying curriculum, videos and scholar workbooks.</li> <li>Monitor module Discussions Boards, answer scholar questions posted in the Discussion Boards and prompt scholars to participate in the Discussion Boards when necessary.</li> <li>Business Advisors will be assigned two Growth Groups of scholars. Each Growth Group will have a maximum of seven scholars.</li> <li>Lead two Growth Group virtual calls on Thursdays, throughout the cohort. Growth Group calls will include educational activities, curriculum review and debriefs to ensure scholars fully understand the curriculum and can apply entrepreneurial ideas and concepts delivered throughout the week to their strategic growth plans and into their current businesses.</li> <li>Lead weekly one-on-one virtual coaching/mentoring calls for each assigned scholar (14 in total).</li> <li>Attend Virtual Business Advisor Scholar Resource Needs Calls.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <br /> <ul> <li>Assist scholars in learning how to use coaches/advisors appropriately (preparation, discussion and debrief, and follow-up).</li> <li>Help scholars identify and connect to external business services in their geographic area.</li> <li>Work with scholars to understand, collect and apply business metrics to support growth.</li> <li>Help scholars apply course content to their strategic growth plans.&nbsp;</li> <li>Weekly review of assigned scholars LivePlan Strategic Growth Plans.</li> <li>Complete assessment of scholars through Monitoring and Evaluation activities, including ongoing awareness of validation.</li> <li>Complete assessment of program through team debriefing and review process.</li> </ul>
