Overview: <br />The Muslim Chaplain serves as an essential function in the Office of Religious &amp; Spiritual Life having the responsibility for serving the spiritual needs of Babson students as well as a resource for Babson faculty and staff. The Muslim Chaplain is responsible for supporting our diverse Muslim student community spiritually, and culturally; as well as for offering a variety of religious, spiritual, educational, and social programs to the Muslim community.<br /> <br />The Office of Religious and Spiritual Life is part of the Student Success portfolio within the Division of Student Affairs at Babson College, which includes Accessibility Services, Campus Assessment, Response, &amp; Evaluation (CARE) Team, Health Services, Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), Student Advising &amp; Success and Wellness &amp; Prevention Services.
Responsibilities: <br /> <p><strong>Spiritual:<br /><br /></strong></p> <ul> <li>Provide weekly opportunities for religious practices (Ju&rsquo;umah prayers) and observances of holy days for campus community which may include services, sacred text/study, and/or outings.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li> <li>Plan and provide weekly gatherings to sustain Muslim community and safe space for dialogue and development.</li> <li>Work with a diverse team of religious leaders to develop multi-faith services and offerings campus-wide.</li> <li>Participate and facilitate Interfaith dialogue and programming.</li> <li>Participate in College functions such as Baccalaureate and Commencement.</li> <li>Provide support and comfort to the Babson community and lead memorials during crises.</li> </ul> <br /> <p>&nbsp;<br /><strong>Educational/Social:<br /><br /></strong></p> <ul> <li>Educate the Babson community on Muslim (Islamic) beliefs, basic tenets, and traditions.</li> <li>Encourage and provide opportunities for students to engage in theological thought and inclusive dialogue around ethical and social justice concerns, religious diversity, and religious tolerance.</li> <li>Strongly encourage and support students to engage in community outreach as well as interfaith programming with other faiths on campus.</li> <li>Collaborate with other campus departments for special programming (i.e., International Education Week, CARE Week).</li> </ul> <br /> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Administrative:<br /><em><br /></em></strong></p> <ul> <li>Attend regular Chaplain Meetings and one-on-one meetings with Director, Religious &amp; Spiritual Life.</li> <li>Respond to electronic communications, phone calls, and other correspondence in a timely manner.</li> <li>Submit weekly reports to Director, Religious &amp; Spiritual Life &amp; College Chaplain.</li> <li>Hold weekly Office Hours.</li> <li>Submit an annual budget for approval to Director, Religious &amp; Spiritual Life &amp; College Chaplain.&nbsp;</li> </ul> <br /> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Assume additional responsibilities as required.</p>
Requirements: <br /> <p><strong>WHAT EDUCATION AND SKILLS YOU WILL NEED<br /><br /></strong></p> <ul> <li><strong>Master&rsquo;s Degree in Divinity, Theology, Pastoral Counseling, or equivalent.</strong></li> <li><strong>At least 2-5 years of related experience.</strong></li> <li>Must have the knowledge and skills <strong>committed to social justice</strong> and be able to work in a multi-faith, diverse, and inclusive environment.</li> <li>Must have <strong>strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills</strong></li> <li>Must be able to maintain a <strong>high degree of confidentiality</strong> at all times</li> <li>Must be able to <strong>serve as a confidential Title IX resource</strong> for students who have been impacted by gender-based misconduct.</li> <li>Must have <strong>strong technical skills</strong> including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint).</li> <li>Envisions and proposes new methods to perform tasks that support ET&amp;A; <strong>takes thoughtful risks</strong>; and accepts new and ongoing initiatives, objectives, and solutions to gain sought-after results.</li> <li><strong>Anticipates and embraces change</strong>; demonstrates willingness to achieve, acquire, and utilize new skills and challenging tasks; and is flexible in changing conditions.</li> <li>Ability to <strong>effectively interface with students, faculty, staff, trustees, and visitors</strong>.</li> <li>Ability to be <strong>flexible, adaptable, and available</strong> as needed and to adjust and grow to the needs of the community.</li> </ul> <br /> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>HOW AND WHERE YOU WILL WORK<br /><br /></strong></p> <ul> <li>All Babson College faculty and staff authorized to work on campus must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, <a href="https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/stay-up-to-date.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">including any appropriate boosters</a>. Proof of vaccination upon hire is required or within 21 days of becoming eligible for a booster.
