Overview: <br />The Director, Systems &amp; Cloud oversees the enterprise cloud and systems teams, and computer systems including all endpoint devices that support Babson College. The infrastructure team is responsible for designing, deploying, securing, and maintaining all network and telecommunications infrastructure across campus as well as systems whether on campus or in the cloud. <br /><br />Babson College is in the process of a multiyear technology plan to migrate its compute to SaaS or a cloud-based solution as well as formulate relevant disaster recovery plans with supportive network infrastructure. This role will be a pivotal part of that leadership team which will develop, execute, and support that plan.
Responsibilities: <br /> <ul> <li>Work as part of a senior IT leadership team to provide technical and management leadership for cloud and on-premises systems.</li> <li>Lead the overall planning for the premises and cloud data centers to ensure the approach supports business needs and is designed, managed, and maintained in accordance with industry best practices.</li> <li>Collaborate with Directors of Security, Applications, and the Project Management Office (PMO) to develop a multiyear roadmap to cloud computing and unified communications with the goal of significantly reducing the campus computing footprint and associated risk.</li> <li>Develop multiyear technology capital and operating budget plans, while identifying and developing cost-saving measures as appropriate.</li> <li>Provide oversight to ensure all critical services have documented methods and procedures for support, as well as lifecycle plans for hardware and software needed to support computer, network, and telecom services in the short, medium, and long term.</li> <li>Direct the design, purchase, and support of enterprise system technologies, such as Office 365 and Azure.</li> <li>Work with staff to ensure training aligns with job responsibilities as well as industry best practices in the discipline.</li> <li>In collaboration with the CIO, Procurement, and other IT Directors, oversee and manage the negotiations for Infrastructure agreements ensuring current, appropriate support levels are in place and vendors are compliant with contractual obligations both in terms of costs and service delivery metrics.</li> <li>Ensure fully operational solutions are in place leveraging the appropriate tools and processes.</li> <li>Monitor and maintain the performance of on-premises and cloud systems.</li> <li>Oversee the operations of the core network, virtual compute environment on and off-premises, wired and wireless network infrastructure, DNS, DHCP, firewalls, VOIP services and the physical fiber and copper plant.</li> <li>Advise CIO and leadership on risk, mitigation, and future directions.</li> <li>Develop and communicate KPIs for all major services.</li> <li>Encourage and maintain cross-functional communications within IT as well as with business partners.</li> <li>Assume additional responsibilities as required.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>YOUR TEAM WILL INCLUDE<br /><br /></strong></p> <ul> <li>Manager, Systems &amp; Security</li> <li>IT Systems Analyst</li> <li>Systems &amp; Cloud Architect</li> </ul>
Requirements: <br /> <p><strong>WHAT EDUCATION AND SKILLS YOU WILL NEED:<br /><br /></strong></p> <ul> <li>Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree</li> <li>Must have 10 years of experience managing service delivery of systems and/or network/telecom in a multi-platform environment; and a minimum of 5 years of experience managing staff and a budget.</li> <li>Must have strong working knowledge and experience with networks, security and systems technologies, cloud solutions, DRaaS, VOIP and industry best practices.</li> <li>Must have strong analytical, verbal, and written communication and organizational skills.</li> <li>Proven record of working effectively at all levels of the organization.</li> <li>Familiarity with monitoring and management tools for networks and cloud environments.</li> <li>Demonstrated management skills and leadership skills with the ability to build a strong high performing team and manage technical staff.</li> <li>Ability to translate complex technical terms and concepts into business value and impact.</li> <li>Must have a strong focus on customer service and internal support processes and documentation.</li> <li>Must have experience with multisite infrastructure for computing and networking solutions.</li> <li>Must have a strong awareness of federal and state regulatory compliance requirements such as FERPA and GDPR.</li> <li>Ability to create an environment where direct reports have the freedom and security to take initiative; deal with complexities with resilience, resourcefulness, and optimism; and appreciate open-mindedness, creativity, and agility in thought and tactics.</li> <li>Ability to embrace ideas and changes created by all community members. &nbsp;</li> <li>Ability to work independently to solve problems; look for opportunities to take on responsibility; take thoughtful risks; and effectively act on new and ongoing initiatives, objectives, and solutions to gain sought-after results.</li> <li>Ability to anticipate and effectively handles change; demonstrate willingness to try new skills and challenging tasks; and is flexible in changing conditions.</li> <li>Must have strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>HOW AND WHERE YOU WILL WORK<br /><br /></strong></p> <ul> <li>All Babson College faculty and staff authorized to work on campus must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, <a href="" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">including any appropriate boosters</a>.
