Overview: <br />The Cycling Instructor is responsible for the creation and implementation of high-level fitness routines that are cutting-edge, safe, and appropriate for students at all levels. This position will present a positive and competent image of Babson College through quality fitness programs designed to meet the needs of the community. Well-prepared, relevant, safe, and effective programming will be taught in a professional manner, resulting in friendly, convenient, and courteous service.
Responsibilities: <br /> <ul> <li>Creates and implements fitness plans and routines that are engaging and appropriate for students at all levels, including creating and maintaining a playlist of appropriate music for each class.</li> <li>Teach respective classes on a regular basis and keep subbing to a minimum. Communicate with Assistant Athletic Director on member feedback, equipment and operational status, scheduling, and subbing.</li> <li>Ensures participants are comfortable with the bikes and other equipment and utilize it in a safe manner; continuously monitors exercise intensity throughout the class, and modifies class intensity for participants when necessary.</li> <li>Models appropriate stance on the bike and provides verbal instruction throughout classes and routines.</li> <li>Maintains a clean and safe workout area.</li> <li>Develop and maintain a community around fitness and spin to enhance participant experience and grow participation levels in class.</li> <li>Ensures classes begin and end on time.</li> <li>Assumes additional responsibilities as required.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <br /> <p><strong>WHAT EDUCATION AND SKILLS YOU WILL NEED</strong></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <ul> <li><strong>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree and/or equivalent work experience.</strong></li> <li>A minimum of 2-3 years of related experience.</li> <li>Must possess a current cycling certification (Schwinn or Stages indoor cycling certification highly recommended).</li> <li>Must possess and maintain current CPR/AED certification.</li> <li>Must be well-versed in basic anatomy, kinesiology, contraindicated exercises, exercise modifications for all populations and ACSM Guidelines for frequency, intensity, and duration.</li> <li>Contribute to a positive work environment by illustrating pride in the job, enthusiasm and cooperation with coworkers.</li> <li>Adhere to the description of the class and modify the intensity for participants when necessary.</li> <li>Must be eager to learn, continue professional development/education, friendly, vibrant, and outgoing.</li> <li>Embraces new approaches and discovers ideas to create a better member experience.</li> <li>Envisions and proposes new methods to perform tasks that support ET&amp;A; takes thoughtful risks; and accepts new and ongoing initiatives, objectives, and solutions to gain sought-after results.</li> <li>Anticipates and embraces change; demonstrates willingness to achieve, acquire, and utilize new skills and challenging tasks; and is flexible in changing conditions.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>HOW AND WHERE YOU WILL WORK<br /><br /></strong></p> <ul> <li>All Babson College faculty and staff authorized to work on campus must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, <a href="https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/stay-up-to-date.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">including any appropriate boosters</a>.
