Overview: <br />The Assistant/Associate Director, Housing Operations, is an integral member of the Residence Life team. Specifically, the Assistant/Associate Director assists the Associate Dean of Students in managing the housing needs of the community, which is comprised of 25 residence halls (approximately 2000 beds) and enhancing the quality of the Babson student experience for undergraduate residential students. <br /><br />The Residence Life team prioritizes the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and systems to cultivate a safe, inclusive, healthy, and sustainable residential supports student success; evaluates and improves the student residential experience from a Housing Operations lens; promotes an inclusive campus environment grounded in respect for self and civility; and fosters a sustained commitment to operational excellence, quality, integrity, and best practice.
Responsibilities: <br /> <ul> <li>Manages large scale operational projects, systems, policies, and procedures including but not limited to room selection, room assignments (fall, winter, spring, summer), student move-in, and closing processes.</li> <li>Oversee housing operations and student employment budget; assist in the management of the annual strategy associated with room and board revenue (approximately $31.5 million annually).</li> <li>Implement the College's occupancy strategy, providing critical data analysis to campus partners and senior administration related to student occupancy trends, retention, capacity and utilization.</li> <li>Develop and implement a communication strategy to key stakeholders, including students, families, faculty and staff; in partnership with the Assistant/Associate Director, Residence Life for Residence Education and the Associate Dean of Students; engage and problem-solve with key stakeholders around feedback, pain points, and operational policies and procedures.</li> <li>Identify operational efficiencies and create innovative solutions in partnership with the Assistant/Associate Director, Residence Life, and Associate Dean of Students to enhance students&rsquo; experience with Residence Life.</li> <li>Elevate the Housing Operations experience from a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging lens by evaluating and identifying success and opportunities for growth.</li> <li>Oversee master keys ensuring appropriate usage, access, and distribution.</li> <li>Serve as a student advocate and partner in the Babson College Dining experience.</li> <li>Serve as liaison in maintaining collaboration with departments across campus including: Babson College Dining, Registrar, Student Engagement, Public Safety/One Card, Student Advising and Success, Center for Career Development, Payroll, Athletics, Admission (undergraduate and graduate), Summer Programs, Glavin Office, Student Financial Aid, Student Financial Services, and Facilities Management and Planning.</li> <li>Partner with Information Technology staff to develop and maintain the Housing Operations database including all room assignments, roommate matching, updated bed/space counts, as well as testing system upgrades and maintenance of confidential records.</li> <li>Serve as the primary advisor for Area Coordinators regarding all Housing Operations processes and procedures including administrative management of the room change, closing, and opening processes.</li> <li>In conjunction with the Associate Dean and Senior Director for Campus Life Student Services &amp; Administration, represent Student Life on division and College committees and project groups.</li> <li>Advise and counsel students on personal, academic, and community matters utilizing campus resources, referring to others when appropriate.</li> <li>Respond to parent and guardian inquiries and concerns.</li> <li>Assist in facility preparation of residence halls, including College opening weekends and regular facility maintenance.</li> <li>Assume additional responsibilities as required.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>YOUR TEAM WILL INCLUDE<br /><br /></strong></p> <ul> <li>Area Coordinator, Housing Operations Specialty</li> <li>Area Coordinators related to relevant Housing Operations functions (indirect)</li> <li>Student workers (as needed)</li> </ul>
Requirements: <br /> <p><strong>WHAT EDUCATION AND SKILLS YOU WILL NEED</strong></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <ul> <li><strong>Master&rsquo;s Degree.</strong></li> <li>Must have at least <strong>4-6 years of related experience to be considered for the Assistant Director level and must have at least 6-8 years of related experience to be considered for the Associate Director level.</strong></li> <li>Must have exceptional <strong>collaboration</strong> and <strong>interpersonal</strong> skills, and the ability to be effective at engaging with all levels of the College.</li> <li>Must have <strong>excellent leadership, diplomacy, and team management skills</strong> with the ability to engage others through a participative process, while serving as key decision maker.</li> <li>Must have a demonstrated commitment to working with a diverse and inclusive student body, faculty, staff, and other constituents.</li> <li>Must have <strong>knowledge of student advisement; student and staff training development; student development theory; and college policies and legal issues in higher education</strong>.</li> <li>Ability to engage in timely communication via email, phone, and in person with key stakeholders including students, families, and campus partners.</li> <li>Must have <strong>strong project, program management, and evaluation skills.</strong></li> <li>Must have excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.</li> <li>Ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with faculty, administration, staff, parents and alumni.
