Overview: <p>Assists with providing ice skating instruction to students as young as 3 years old using the Learn to Skate USA program, effectively instructing students in all elements of class level.<br /><br /><br />This is a non-exempt position with an hourly rate of $16. This position includes paid sick leave where required by law. Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Assists senior coaching staff with class management and skating instruction.</li> <li>Maintains a positive, creative, upbeat class environment using age-appropriate games and props to keep students moving and engaged.</li> <li>Encourages appropriate behavior of students with an emphasis on safety and community/team building.</li> <li>Actively participates in instruction and mentorship from senior coaching staff.</li> <li>Delivers outstanding customer service to skaters and guests in the rink.</li> <li>Serves as an expert on skate school programs and arena offerings.</li> <li>Assists with preparation prior to class start time, including tying skates, assisting with hockey equipment and setting up lesson areas.</li> <li>Ensures proper storage and maintenance of program materials and equipment.</li> <li>Assumes additional responsibilities as required.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <p><strong><u>Education Requirements:</u></strong></p> <p>Minimum Level of Education Required &ndash; High School.<br /><br /><br /></p> <p><strong><u>Position Knowledge/Skills &amp; Abilities Requirements:</u></strong></p> <ul> <li>Minimum 2-4 years of skating experience required.</li> <li>Must have intermediate to advanced ice-skating skills, preferably with a background in figure skating or hockey.</li> <li>Prior experience working with children in a recreational, sporting or academic setting preferred, but not required.</li> <li>Must be available for weekday afternoon and weekend classes.</li> <li>Individuals with a desire to coach and/or a talent for connecting with very young children are strongly encouraged to apply.</li> </ul> <br /> <p><strong><u>Working Conditions:</u></strong></p> <ul> <li>May be required to physically assist children and adults with skating.</li> <li>Must be able to stand/skate for extended periods of time.</li> <li>Should be able to bend and stand multiple times in an hour.</li> </ul> <br /> <p><strong><u>Additional Experience, Skills &amp; Abilities:</u></strong></p> <ul> <li>Current Learn to Skate USA coaching membership required.</li> </ul>
