Overview: The Junior Network Technician assists network staff with daily operations and offers support for various projects. This position involves implementation of network infrastructure (configuration and deployment) as well as day-to-day production support and customer interfacing opportunities.<br /><br /> <p>This is a non-exempt position with an hourly rate of $25.00. This position includes paid sick leave where required by law. Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Utilize port inventory data to continue Babson&rsquo;s campus wide wired port reduction initiative.</li> <li>Survey WiFi signal strength using specialized equipment as directed by NEO Staff.</li> <li>Assist NEO staff with scripting and small software projects as directed.</li> <li>Create logical diagrams of network closets using software as directed by NEO staff.</li> <li>Assist NEO staff with configuration, deployment, and installation of network switches.</li> <li>Assist NEO staff with troubleshooting and problem resolution for Tier 2/3 escalations.</li> <li>Adhere to NEO documentation standards when creating MOPs, SOPs, and other work documentation.</li> <li>Assume additional responsibilities as required.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <p><strong>WHAT EDUCATION AND SKILLS YOU WILL NEED<br /><br /></strong></p> <ul> <li><strong>Some classes towards a Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree.</strong></li> <li>Ability to think creatively and solve uncommon issues.</li> <li>Must have strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.</li> <li>Ability to&nbsp;<strong>embrace ideas</strong>&nbsp;and changes created by all community members. &nbsp;</li> <li>Ability to work independently to solve problems; look for opportunities to take on responsibility; take thoughtful risks; and effectively act on new and ongoing initiatives, objectives, and solutions to gain sought-after results.</li> <li>Ability to&nbsp;<strong>anticipate and effectively handle change</strong>; demonstrate willingness to try new skills and challenging tasks; and is flexible in changing conditions.</li> <li>Must have strong computer skills including proficiency in Google Drive/Docs and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook/Calendar).</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>HOW AND WHERE YOU WILL WORK</strong></p> <p><br />This is an on-campus position expected to work approximately 35 hours per week <strong>September 8th through December 15th, 2026.</strong></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>ADDITIONAL SKILLS YOU MAY HAVE</strong></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Some prior experience within IT a plus.</p>
