Overview: Behr is seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Researcher to join our new product development, research team. The candidate will work on the development of new products and/or refinement of existing products to ensure Behr&rsquo;s market leadership position.<br /><br />The position will allow the candidate to evaluate and identify new technology platforms that can be implemented into new or existing products. The candidate will conduct research in the area of advanced materials (polymeric materials, nanoparticles, surface-active agents, specialty additives, and pigments) to identify materials that can be utilized to add value to Behr&rsquo;s coating portfolio.<br /><br />This position offers the same benefits as a full-time employee and has potential for growth within the company. Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Research new technology concepts and identify how they can be implemented into coatings.</li> <li>Engage with suppliers to aid in the development and implementation of new <span class="WIK2">products/technologies.</span></li> <li>Interact cross-functionally with groups outside of R&amp;D to meet project timelines and milestones.</li> <li>Provide project updates via oral presentations and written reports. The ability to communicate technical results and recommendations to non-technical personnel is critical.&nbsp;</li> <li>Keep track of technology developments in the coatings and material science research community.</li> <li>Develop new test methods to characterize and evaluate product performance.</li> <li>Provide leadership and technical guidance to Technicians and Jr.&nbsp; Chemists.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <br /> <ul> <li>Ph.D. in Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Material Science, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.</li> <li>Excellent communication skills</li> <li>Self-motivated creative problem solver</li> <li>Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team or independently</li> </ul> <br /> <p dir="LTR"><strong><span class="WIK2">KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES</span> RECOMMENDED FOR POSITION:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Considerable knowledge of raw materials, proper equipment used in testing practices, advanced math, chemistry. chemical formulation and composition as applied to research studies in laboratory settings.</li> <li>Knowledge of computer hardware and software systems and applications.</li> <li>Knowledge of MS Office Suites and/or software applications related to job functions.</li> <li>Ability to plan, organize and complete work as scheduled.</li> <li>Ability to work independently, train and supervise the work of technical personnel.</li> <li>Ability to maintain laboratory research and testing records and prepare periodic reports.</li> <li>Ability to exercise initiative in designing and implementing independent chemical research.</li> <li>Ability to communicate effectively with chemists, technicians, management, and production personnel.</li> <li>Ability to use various testing equipment</li> </ul>
