Overview: <ul> <li>Leads a group of 2-10 technical employees</li> <li>Guides projects and leads technical team to complete projects according to established timelines</li> <li>Provides guidance for problem-solving or troubleshooting activities</li> <li>Assists and advises the technical and Sales and Marketing groups as needed</li> </ul>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Communicates cross-functionally within the organization</li> <li>Guides in the in formulating or changing chemical composition of new or existing products.</li> <li>Accepts decision-making responsibility</li> <li>Leads team in the selection, testing, and evaluating raw materials</li> <li>Develops good teamwork and maximizes skills of team members</li> <li>Guides team in the analysis of production processes and raw materials</li> <li>Provides recommendations for training and career development of employees</li> </ul>
Requirements: EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/TRAINING:<br /> <ul> <li>Exhibits leadership skills, organizational skills, and communication skills in prior job assignments</li> <li>Educational attainment equivalent to a Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Chemistry or a related field</li> <li>Considerable experience in chemical analysis, testing, and product related research/development</li> <li>Ability to present technical laboratory work to mixed technical/non-technical audience</li> </ul> <br />KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES RECOMMENDED FOR POSITION:<br /> <ul> <li>Very good knowledge of paint and coatings formulations and laboratory test methods procedures</li> <li>Well-developed understanding of strengths and weaknesses of various coatings technologies</li> <li>Knowledge of manufacturing practices, line procedures and quality control standards and practices</li> <li>Knowledge of supervisory principles and leadership techniques</li> <li>Ability to set up, adjust, and operate assorted paint testing equipment such as viscometer, glossmeter, performance testing equipment, application equipment, mixers and analytical equipment</li> <li>Ability to communicate effectively, select, train, supervise and evaluate work of staff</li> <li>Ability to plan, organize, complete work as scheduled, delegate tasks, check work in progress and work independently in completing assignments</li> </ul> <br />SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:<br />Ability to travel to customer or vendor locations
