Overview: <ul> <li>Develop new products and refine existing products</li> </ul>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Lead general product development.</li> <li>Direct and lead activity exploring new chemical pathways to develop new technologies as per the company strategy.</li> <li>Define procedures, develop plans and deliver polymer projects</li> <li>Conduct competitive benchmarking product analyses and develop product development strategies.</li> <li>Direct raw material evaluation tests.</li> <li>Direct product performance studies.</li> <li>Solve complex issues relating to polymer systems.</li> <li>Train and monitor the performance of Research and Development Chemists and Junior Chemists.</li> <li>Substantiate, review and justify conclusions reached by Research and Development department activity.</li> </ul>
Requirements: EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/TRAINING:<br /> <ul> <li>Educational attainment equivalent to an advanced degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field</li> <li>Thorough experience in chemical analysis and industrial research applications</li> </ul> <br />KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:<br /> <ul> <li>Thorough working knowledge of advanced math and chemistry and their applications</li> <li>Thorough working knowledge of chemical formulation and composition as applied to research</li> <li>Knowledge of raw materials and proper equipment to be used in testing practices</li> <li>Knowledge of production operations and processing methods</li> <li>Knowledge of quality and process improvement concepts, principles and methodologies</li> <li>Knowledge of quality control standards and practices</li> <li>Ability to use a computer and software systems</li> <li>Knowledge of applications, product features and competitive advantages</li> <li>Ability to train and educate technical personnel in a wide range of technical areas</li> <li>Ability to solve difficult problems and effectively participate in innovative research</li> <li>Ability to plan, organize and complete work as scheduled</li> <li>Ability to maintain laboratory research and testing records</li> <li>Ability to prepare periodic reports, inspect raw materials or finished products for adherence to quality standards</li> <li>Ability to exercise initiative in designing and implementing independent chemical research</li> <li>Ability to communicate effectively</li> <li>Ability to work independently to synthesize, improve and customize polymers</li> <li>Ability to use laboratory processing equipment used to make and test products</li> <li>Ability to recommend and justify budget expenditures relating to capital equipment</li> </ul> <br />SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge of chemical synthesis.
