Overview: <ul> <li>Synthesize polymers, prepare paints, test and compare experimental samples.</li> <li>Provide and maintain accurate data and records for raw material evaluations, new product projects, and product improvement projects.</li> <li>Provide analysis and conclusion of work performed.</li> </ul>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Follow basic lab safety guidelines and regulations</li> <li>Take direction from supervisor and complete assignments in a timely manner</li> <li>Prepare samples using synthetic techniques, laboratory dispersion, and blending equipment</li> <li>Recognize processing issues of lab batches and make appropriate adjustments</li> <li>Make suggestions for product or process improvement based on producing and testing product samples</li> <li>Conduct standard tests following Standard Test Procedures including, but not limited to, viscosity, ICI, gloss, tint strength, density, pH, and scrub tests</li> <li>Record and report test results</li> <li>Report problems associated with test equipment or test processes</li> <li>Clean and maintain test equipment, and work area</li> <li>Perform basic laboratory maintenance including, but not limited to, pourback, stocking lab supply, adhesion panel preparation, clean-up</li> </ul>
Requirements: <strong>EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/TRAINING:</strong><br /> <ul> <li>Educational attainment is equivalent to Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Chemistry / Science.</li> <li>Considerable experience in any chemical or related industry.</li> </ul> <br /><br /><strong>KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES RECOMMENDED FOR POSITION:</strong><br /> <ul> <li>Knowledge of basic lab skills</li> <li>Knowledge of lab safety guidelines and regulations</li> <li>Ability to understand and follow defined testing methods and accurately complete test records</li> <li>Ability to understand the reasons behind the testing procedures</li> <li>Ability to make some analysis and draw conclusions on work performed</li> <li>Knowledge of Behr&rsquo;s product lines, base, and color system and their intended use</li> <li>Knowledge of the QC specifications and methods, how they relate to product performance</li> <li>Communication, filing, and some computer skills are required</li> </ul>
