Overview: <p><strong>Reports to: </strong>General Manager</p> <p><strong>Job Type:</strong> Full time, seasonal (May-September)</p> <p><strong>Hours</strong>: Flexible scheduling 40 hours per week</p> <p>This position is responsible for the entire pool operation on a day-to-day basis, including the safe and effective use of chemicals, swimming instruction, and the club&rsquo;s swim team. The pool manager must ensure the pool areas are safe, clean, well-maintained and appealing. The position runs from May through September.</p>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Hires, trains and supervises pool staff</li> <li>Formulates weekly work schedules and rotation schedules for all pool employees</li> <li>Enforces club rules of safety and conduct</li> <li>Arranges a program of and schedule for private and group swim lessons</li> <li>Keeps attendance record of members and children attending lessons</li> <li>Assists in rendering First Aid according to the standards established by the American Red Cross and American Heart Association</li> <li>Communicates emergency and safety information to members and guests in a calm, clear and professional manner</li> <li>Maintains and keeps all necessary records concerning pool attendance, pool chemicals, accident reports, lifeguard and instructor schedules</li> <li>Assists in pool opening and closing at the beginning and end of season</li> <li>Maintains presence during special pool events</li> <li>Provides aquatics-related information for club newsletter</li> <li>Helps maintain proper chemical balance in pools and maintain mechanical equipment in coordination with the club&rsquo;s maintenance department</li> <li>Ensures that all preventative maintenance and pool repairs are completed in a timely manner</li> <li>Performs other appropriate tasks assigned by the General Manager</li> </ul>
Requirements: <p><strong>Physical Demands and Work Environment</strong></p> <ul> <li>Working conditions are often hot, humid, slippery and wet</li> <li>Able to work in a busy, noisy environment</li> <li>Able to tolerate the smell of chlorine and frequent exposure to cleaning agents</li> <li>Able to meet and perform the physical requirements and to work effectively in an environment which is typical of this position</li> <li>Frequent lifting, bending, climbing, stooping and pulling</li> <li>Frequent repetitive motions</li> <li>Continuous standing and walking</li> </ul> <p><strong>Licenses and Special Requirements</strong></p> <ul> <li>Must have current Red Cross Lifeguard Certificate</li> <li>Red Cross progressive Swimming Instructor Certificate (WSI)</li> <li>American Red Cross Basic First Aid required, training on AED units and possession of a current Red Cross CPR card</li> <li>Certified Pool/Spa Operator (CPO) desirable but not required</li> </ul>
