Overview: We are looking for an experienced Pastry Cook to prepare a variety of desserts, pastries, breads or other sweet goods. Your skill in baking high quality treats should be matched by your creativity to develop new amazing tastes and recipes.<br /><br />The ideal candidate will be well-versed in culinary arts with a passion for sweet and delicious creations. They must adhere to health and safety standards to provide members with the best possible experience.<br /><br />Our team goal is to enhance customer satisfaction so that we can maintain and expand member satisfaction.
Responsibilities: The Pastry Cooks responsibilities include:<br /> <ul> <li>Preparing quality pastry items such as breakfast items, desserts, breads, ice creams, sorbets, creams, simple syrups, amenities, displays/centerpieces and special request items</li> <li>Prepare a wide variety of goods such as cakes, cookies, pies, bread etc. following traditional and modern recipes</li> <li>Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment; use equipment&nbsp;and tools only as intended, properly and safely. Inspect the cleanliness and working conditions of all tools, equipment and supplies</li> <li>Maintain and strictly abide by state sanitation/health regulations and hotel requirements</li> <li>Meet with the Executive Chef to review assignments, anticipated business levels, changes and other information pertinent to the job performance</li> <li>Create new and exciting desserts to renew our menus and engage the interest of members. Decorate pastries using different icings, toppings etc. to ensure the presentation will be beautiful and exciting</li> <li>Monitor stocks of baking ingredients such as flour, sugar, chocolate etc. and make appropriate orders within budget. Check quality of material and condition of equipment and devices used for cooking. Maintain a lean and orderly cooking station and adhere to health and safety standards</li> <li>Guide and motivate pastry assistants and bakers to work more efficiently. Identify staffing needs and help recruit and train personnel</li> <li>Establish priority items for the day, check production schedule and par</li> <li>Prepare all menu items following recipes and yield guides, according to departmental standards.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>Proven experience as Pastry Cook, baker or relevant role, great attention to detail and creativity</li> <li>Organizing and leadership skills</li> <li>In depth knowledge of sanitation principles, food preparation and baking techniques and nutrition and a willingness to replenish professional knowledge</li> <li>Working knowledge of baking with ingredient limitations (some pastries that are gluten free, sugarless etc.)</li> <li>Certificate in culinary arts, pastry-making, baking or relevant field</li> <li>Proficient in English or Spanish</li> <li>Ability to stand on your feet for several hours, lift, up to 50 pounds, reach, bend,</li> <li>High School diploma or equivalent vocational training certificate</li> <li>Certification of culinary training or apprenticeship preferred.</li> <li>Demonstrates adequate pastry skills and operations</li> <li>Be able to plan and prepare for restaurant, catering and special events</li> </ul> <p><strong>Skills</strong></p> <ul> <li>Communication, Teamwork Oriented, maintain a Good Energy Level, Thorough, Organized, Professional, and of course Punctual</li> </ul> <p>This opportunity is rare, if you are selected you will be the fourth pastry cook in 55 years!</p>
