Food and Beverage Manager

The Food & Beverage Manager is part of the management team and is expected to lead their staff accordingly.  The team aggressively pursues methods to improve the department’s products, services and sales.  The position oversees the operation of ala carte dining and banquet events to ensure the best service is given to the membership and their guests.

Overview: Primary objective is to work as a part of the Bloomfield Hills Country Club service team and to assist in setting us apart by providing exemplary service to our membership and their guests.<br /> <p><strong>Reports to:&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; </strong>Clubhouse Manager</p> <p><strong>Supervises:&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; </strong>Servers, server assistants, bartenders and any other Food and Beverage personnel.</p>
Responsibilities: <p><strong>Primary Financial Responsibilities:</strong></p> <ol> <li>Adherence to budgeted labor costs.</li> <li>Adherence to budgeted food costs.</li> <li>Adherence to budgeted beverage costs.</li> </ol> <br /> <ul> <li>Ensures that the staff under their direction is competent, efficient, effective and service oriented by:</li> <li>Teaching and rewarding appropriate behaviors.</li> <li>Recognizing inappropriate behavior and counseling using proper coaching techniques.</li> <li>Setting high standards when checking out staff to make certain all assigned duties have been completed.</li> <li>Serves as a positive role model by: <ul> <li>Adhering to the same standards of service and behavior that peers are required to uphold.</li> <li>Maintaining a positive and friendly demeanor at all times.</li> <li>Working with subordinates to meet member&rsquo;s needs.</li> <li>Representing the Club in its relationships with members and guests.</li> </ul> </li> <li>Communicates effectively by: <ul> <li>Attending and participating in food and beverage meetings.</li> <li>Communicating daily with the Clubhouse Manager &amp; General Manager.</li> <li>Holding scheduled staff meetings and training sessions as needed.</li> <li>Giving continuous feedback to staff regarding their job performance.</li> <li>Conducting pre-meal line up daily to ensure consistent and thorough knowledge and identify areas of training opportunities..</li> </ul> </li> <li>Performs job tasks such as: <ul> <li>Setting staff level for each shift.</li> <li>Checking/taking reservations for the dining rooms.</li> <li>Planning floor diagram for service.</li> <li>Preparing the dining room facility, i.e., temperature, lighting, music, etc.</li> <li>Receiving members and guests into the dining room.</li> <li>Monitoring service and staff to ensure exceptional service.</li> <li>Resolving member/guest complaints promptly within designated empowerment.</li> <li>Ensuring open and closing shift duties are complete.</li> <li>Decorating as necessary for banquets and theme events.</li> <li>Inputting daily specials into the Jonas POS system.</li> <li>Other tasks as directed by the clubhouse manager.</li> </ul> </li> <li>Continually evaluates service by: <ul> <li>Actively participating in service including bussing, bartending and serving.</li> <li>Seeking input from members and other service staff.</li> <li>Assisting in suggestively selling wine and other beverage</li> </ul> </li> <li>Works cooperatively with other departments by: <ul> <li>Responding to their food and beverage needs promptly and effectively.</li> <li>Working as a liaison between the kitchen and service areas to ensure communications.</li> <li>Completing paperwork in a timely fashion.</li> </ul> </li> <li>Continues own education and development by: <ul> <li>Participating in classes and seminars and training.</li> <li>Seeking input from co-workers and service staff on their own performance.</li> </ul> </li> </ul>
Requirements: <p><strong>Qualifications:&nbsp;</strong>High school diploma or equivalent in appropriate experience and/or certifications.&nbsp; Two or more years of experience in a similar position.</p> <ul> <li>Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.</li> <li>Ability and desire to withstand prolonged periods of standing.</li> <li>High standards of work excellence.</li> <li>Strong communication &amp; conflict resolution skills.</li> </ul>
