Overview: <strong>The Manager will be part of the Strategy team responsible for shaping and driving strategies for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan&rsquo;s (BCBSM) Health Plan Business (HPB) division. As part of the HPB Strategy team, you will work closely with market-facing segments and functional areas as a strategic adviser and partner on near-term and long-term divisional priorities and strategies (e.g., segment and functional area-specific efforts, cross-divisional initiatives, and division-led enterprise-wide efforts). Key activities include leveraging business frameworks to structure nebulous concepts, synthesizing external perspectives, identifying key opportunities, performing quantitative/qualitative analysis, and framing strategic options and recommendations. In addition, you will work with the Director and VP of HPB Strategy in leading and supporting the division&rsquo;s strategic planning process and its key strategic forums/discussions, gaining exposure to the most important priorities of the business.</strong>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Manage activities of a department including but not limited to planning, problem solving, staff development and communication.</li> <li>Execute function/area objectives that support continuous improvement.</li> <li>Manage professional, exempt, and non-exempt non-bargaining and bargaining unit employees.</li> <li>Responsible for special projects and/or problem resolutions</li> <li>Provide effective and efficient solutions to complex business problems.</li> <li>Provide high level oversight and leadership.</li> <li>Other Duties may be assigned.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree in related field required. MBA or other advanced degree (e.g., MHA, MHSA) is preferred.</li> <li>Professional services (e.g., consulting, investment banking) or corporate strategy experience is preferred.</li> <li>Five (5) to ten (10) years of experience in a related field including experience in a leadership role.</li> <li>Three (3) years or more of healthcare or insurance plan experience preferred.</li> <li>Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.</li> <li>Innovative and forward thinking with ability to envision multiple future state scenarios.</li> <li>Ability to leverage business frameworks to structure nebulous concepts and opportunities.</li> <li>Strong written and oral communication skills with confidence and ability to interact effectively with senior leaders.</li> <li>Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively &ndash; both verbally and in writing.</li> <li>Comfort with uncertainty.</li> <li>Ability to manage multiple competing priorities.</li> <li>Project management and organizational skills.</li> <li>Ability to work under general direction.</li> <li>Ability to work effectively in a team environment.</li> <li>Valid and unrestricted driver's license is required.</li> <li>Other related skills and/or abilities may be required to perform this job.</li> </ul>
