Competitive Total Compensation Package

Overview: Responsible for the administration of retirement and/or savings plans. Assists in retirement and/or savings related projects to provide efficiency and drive execution resulting in better products, systems and services to BCBSM and subsidiary employees and retirees. Communicates with customers and explains the benefit plans and distributions. Maintains plan records and ensures compliance with federal regulations.
Responsibilities: <ul style="font-weight: 400;"> <li>Analyze, verify and process pension and life insurance claims.</li> <li>Respond to employee/retiree inquiries via email/telephone from all of BCBSM and its subsidiaries including NBU employees, BU employees, and executives with limited supervision abiding by all corporate and employee policies and procedures.</li> <li>Assist in departmental activities that include, but are not limited to data analysis, maintenance of records and documentation of procedures.</li> <li>Provide technical support to teammates in the department.</li> <li>Prepare information for internal and external audits and market surveys as necessary.</li> <li>Assist in drafting, reviewing, and distribution of plan documents, amendments, summary plan descriptions, and other documents in accordance with regulatory requirements.</li> <li>Participate in work groups composed of various areas in the corporation to complete projects and/or tasks.</li> <li>Assist personnel (both internal and external) by answering questions, supplying information and training as necessary.</li> <li>Aid in the development, maintenance and production of monthly, quarterly or annual reports as required.</li> <li>Assist in developing information to support Human Resources policies and procedures in daily dealings with individuals and/or departments in the corporation.</li> <li>Perform other duties as assigned.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <p><strong><em><u>Departmental Preferences:</u></em></strong></p> <ul> <li>Strong mathematic skills and working knowledge of discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, and exponentials.</li> <li>Working knowledge of both retirement and health &amp; welfare benefits.</li> <li>Experience with system programming logic and file interface transfers.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p> <ul> <li>Bachelor Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Economics, Finance, or Human Resources Management preferred.</li> <li>Applied work-related experience in ensuring compliance to Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), Department of Labor (DOL), and Internal Revenue Service (IRS) codes, legislation, and practices as related to retirement programs.</li> <li>Three years of experience in administering benefits, interpreting plan language, preparing summary plan descriptions, annual pension statements, etc. for pension and/or savings plans.</li> <li>Excellent analytical, organizational, problem resolution, verbal and written communication skills.</li> <li>Must be self-motivated, able to work independently and within established deadlines.</li> <li>Proficient in MS Office skills (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).</li> <li>Strong customer service skills and ability to work and communicate with vendors, employees (clients), cross-functional teams and senior leaders.</li> <li>Solid communication skills.
